Which would you choose ?

Hi,
First..I'm from NY so my best game is 9/6 Jacks which I can play
well. Will be in Las Vegas(solo) Dec.1-4. Offer from NYNY...3
nights comp,$125 free slot play...$75 dining credit..limo to and
from. I also play at Bellagio but my lady friend and I play under my
name and of course at higher denoms( lot of 50 cent 5 play) when
there. Now that NYNY is merged with the other MGM casinos I inquired
and was told that offers from Bellagio or any other MGM-Mirage props.
would be based upon "last corporate trip". I go to NYNY when I
travel alone therefore playing significantly less than at Bellagio
but still getting good offers as play reqs. are less. I received an
offer from Caesars Palace...2 nights comp in Palace Tower..$50 food
credit..$50 CB certificate. I found out that I have a comp balance
at Caesars of $212 so this would pay for my third night($59) upfront.
Of course my account will grow with play. At both casinos I do most
of my play on the 25 cent 3/5 play Jacks.
Not wishing to "hurt" my status at Bellagio I have decided to
cancel NYNY and go to Caesar's. What would you do ?

First, you have to realize that as a filthy, no-good, beneath-regard
lowlife miserable video poker player, you HAVE no status at the
Bellagio. I'm serious. They HATE us. Case in point: $30,000 coin-in in
a 3-day period last year from yours truly (mostly dollar 9/6). A net
win of $625, and nothing but frosty indifference from the Fromaggio. I
mean, NUTHIN'. Not even a friendly postcard. Not even a letter
offering a $5 discount on their normally $2000 rooms for New Year's
Eve. And BTW, I'm not alone in experiencing this reaction (or lack
thereof).
In DIRECT contrast, I played two days at NYNY; I played 50-play NSUD
(which is now history); I put in about $22K of play each day. For a
YEAR thereafter I was inundated by offers: free play of $100, $200, in
a couple of months, $500(!), Invitations to slot tourneys. Dinners for
two in the steakhouse. Three-day room comps with RFB. I tell you, they
laid it on THICK. (My $1000 loss was more than compensated for by all
these goodies AND the $630 cash back I earned.)
I don't have any direct experience with Caesar's, except that friends
have told me that they are quite good with room offers for relatively
light play.
And BTW: Even though ownership has merged, the different properties
will still treat you differently. $X play at the Bellagio still
produces different results than $X play at NYNY or Caesar's.
So the upshot is: I would play at NYNY or Caesar's, but wouldn't touch
Bellagio with my ten-foot pole.

I visited Vegas for the first time in September, stayed at Flamingo.
I hated that casino, so I gambled more at Bellagio.

I played about $3500 through $1 9/6 JB, and $1 9/7 DB, in three
separate sessions, over about 3 hours during one day. I was wildly
lucky, all three sessions were winners, including 4 aces on the DB
machine, profiting well over $1000 total. (I played one slot with a
$10 membership freebie, lost that.) No W2-Gs, each session won under
$1200.

This week in the mail, I received an offer for three free nights
(must be used this year), on top of the free buffet for two that I
earned as a new member.

Hi Larry,

We touched on this modestly over on acvpp.

I feel quite strongly in saying that offers from each MGM properties
at which you're rated are based strictly upon your play there. The
variety of offers I receive from NYNY, MGM & Bellagio (closely
reflecting the dispersion of my play at those three casinos) leaves me
with considerable confidence in my statement, unless someone comes
forth with reasonably documented experience to the otherwise.

I don't believe that you potentially jeopardize your standing at one
property vs. another just because your play levels differs at each.

Now, I believe that your discussion with the MGM-Bellagio rep. was
focussed, in part, on coming into a property largely unrated (perhpas
a couple of partial day visits). In this case, I take them to say
that in absence of a standing room offer from this property, they are
going to look to your standing at affiliated properties to decide how
to bring you in. That only stands to reason. However, after that
first trip, I have every reason to expect that you will be building a
play average unique to B. that will have no consequence upon your
rating elsewhere, or will continued play at those properties affect
your new rating at B.

So my advice, if you're inclined to go to NYNY then by all means do so.

My NYNY play averages $30-40K/night, my Bellagio $60K. I see no
evidence whatsoever that are treatment/offers at Bellagio suffers by
our considerably softer NYNY play.
