Which marketing "free room" offers are really for FREE rooms????

Took my first trip to Reno and stayed 3 nights at the Peppermill. A
host gave me a casino rate ($39) for the Montego Bay rooms. We went
with another couple making their second trip. They reserved their room
using a "free" room offer they received from direct marketing. Their
coupon did say "rooms would be charged to your comp balance". And sure
enough, their comp balance dropped by $40 a day to cover their room.

I know some people have said this is always the case, and others have
said this shouldn't, or probably wouldn't happen. But I will assume
that if the coupon says it will be charged, then it will.

My question should be pretty simple.

Are their marketing offers from any of the other major Reno (and
Sparks) casino hotels that are for FREE rooms NOT charged to your comp
account?

Mike

The Peppermill sends 2 types of "free" room offers. One is truly free
and says "free room", the other is charged to your comp account and
says "complimentary room." This is confusing because many casinos use
free and complimentary interchangeably. In Reno, for instance, the
Siena calls their free rooms complimentary but they are not charged to
your comp account. The Atlantis specifically says that their
complimentary offers are not charged to your comp account.

I get totally free rooms at John's Nugget in Sparks.... I play 10-15K
per weekend, and receive free room offers, free shows, and unlimited
beverages constantly..... Because of their .75% comp, my 10K of play
earns $75 comp for food. I have never had to pay for a meal, room or
show there. The .75% comp rate is the highest of any casino, and
makes even a 99.25% VP paytable into a FP game.

I get invitations to slot tournaments every few weeks, in fact, we are
going there this weekend for a invitation only, free, slot tourney.
Comped two free nights, unlimited beverages, free show tickets.

On the minus side, Nugget does not have a Peppermillions card
swipe.... but according to the the slot boss, a similar daily card
swipe is on order and arriving soon......
