1a. When you get FreePlay, what game/denom do you play?
Date: Thu Jun 25, 2009 3:57 am ((PDT))Going back to LV in 2 weeks and I'll have $ 150 in Free Play available at TI.
I am usually a .25 player, but the best game there is 9/6 DB.
...
When you play with FreePlay, how do you base your decision? Best game at your
normal level of play ... best game at a slightly higher denom... or do you
"shoot for the moon"?
I play the machine with the best return. Example: Had $200 freeplay at Golden Nugget some time back. Only full pay JoB (the only game I play) was the 9/6 on the $5 machines. That's what I played. The $5 machines was above my bankroll at that time, and so I didn't play ANYTHING at GN on "my own" money, but since I HAD to use the freeplay there, I used it on the machine with the best return on games I play.
The $10 and $25 machines also had 9/6 JoB, but I saw no reason to limit myself to (likely) fewer hands by playing a higher-than-necessary denom. -- but also saw no reason to play a lower denom. with a lower-than-necessary return.
Incidentally, only playing off the freeplay, as I did, will eventually lead to no more offers, which is what I expected and indeed experienced. But that doesn't mean I need to go spend money on sub-par machines for that reason.
IF there had also been $1 machines with same return, I probably would have played that level instead, since I would have been more likely to get some time in at the machine, which presumably would have looked better, and also I would have been able and willing to risk some of my own money at that denomination if the paytable had been satisfactory.
I rarely play $.25 and never play nickels; if those options had been available full pay, I MIGHT have spent some time at $.25, but wouldn't have wasted time on the nickel machines. But nothing wrong with it if that denom. doesn't bore you.
