When it seems too good to be true, it probably is... (long)

I recently came across the most lucritive VP opportunity I have ever
seen; it was at St. Croix Casino in west central Wisconsin. They were
celebrating their 15th anniversary with 24hrs. of 15x bonus points.
Their base cashback is 0.3125%, which made for a whopping 4.6875%
cashback! Granted their vp inventory is weak, with the best games
being 5-play $2 7/5 BP (98.0%) and $2 10-coin 17/4700 KBJW (98.4%), but
it still would've been an amazing opportunity. Would've being the
keyword...

About 2 hours into the promotion, a guy walked up to me (and thank
goodness that he did) and asks me if I realize that there is a limit of
$100 per day in cashback off of your card. Of course I was skeptical
at first since I figured he was just trying to get my machine, but I
had it held while I went to the players club to check, and
unfortunately it was true. I incessantly argued with the floor
managers but they would not budge. It is the most ridiculous rule I
have ever heard of, and the only casino I have ever seen to impose such
a rule. How can a player not have a right to the cashback that they
have earned?!?!

I felt such disappointment; this was supposed to be a $15,000 payday
(expectation), and instead I was stuck with $2250 in cashback that I
couldn't access (AND down $6500 on the machine at the time). I live
almost 6 hours from this casino, so there is almost no chance of
recovering all of the cashback in the 18 months after which they will
expire.

It took a while for me to realize it, but that guy telling me about the
cashback limit probably saved me close to $11,000 which I would've lost
on the machine throughout the rest of the day. Granted I would've had
about $24,000 worth of points on my card, I would've had to move to
Turtle Lake, WI to collect all of it. I went back and found him and
gave him a sincere thank you before angerly driving home about $21,000
short of where I expected to finish the day.

So let this be a lesson to everyone - be careful to check things over
from every angle, especially if it seems too good to be true. I know
most of you are probably thinking that it serves me right for playing
at a Native American casino, but all of the stereotypes people have
about them are simply not true, IMHO. By the way, sorry for not
sharing the info about this promotion on vpFree, but due to the limited
number of machines they have, I couldn't risk not being able to play if
too many of us showed up. In hindsight, I suppose I saved many of you
a considerable amount of time and money by not telling you  Everyone
needs their secret plays, right?

I heard of the 15x points on Monday but had assumed their base was
much lower (like .1%). I also knew their good machines were long
gone. It looks like I didn't miss much with the $100 limit.
