I started playing Video Poker about 3 years ago. About 5 years ago, I started to go to Vegas a few times a year, since I lived in LA, it was quite easy. At first, I played BJ and slots, and then after hitting a 1K slot jackpot, I got the slot fever. Well, after a few trips back , I realized that the major hit I got, was just plain luck, never to be repeated. I started reading up on VP, and on my trips to Vegas, starting playing more and more. I ordered the VPFW software, and started going to Sams Town, where I could play FPDW. For two years, I never hit a royal, and only once got deuces a few times, this was playing mostly the .25 machines, and sometimes the .10 machines.
My trips to vegas got more frequent, and I still couldnt hit that damn Royal. I would read these posts here, it would give me inspiration to learn more, practive more, and play more. I never posted before.
There is a local casino near me, and since I moved to Palm Springs, it is too near....lol. Really nothing playable at all, with the exception of a .25 Deuces Bonus progressive. Most times the royal is near 2k, and many times it is higher then that. When it gets to 1500 or above, I hit that machine for hours. The past 4 months, I have put about 50K coin through there, and still havent hit that damn royal. My bankroll is about gone, and I started to rethink my gaming. The final kick in the gut, was the last two times I went, the royal was over 2 grand, each time, the person NEXT TO ME got it.....lol, i mean come on!!!!
I took my remaining bankroll, and started playing Hold Em. I got quite lucky with some great hands, and in two sessions I doubled my bankroll. But I couldnt get that damn never hit Royal outta my head.
Time to hit VP again! So, I went to another indian casino near me, to play my favorite Triple Play. Its a short pay DDB 9/6, yet its only .10, and yes I know its not positive, yet going when they have Triple and Double point days, and with my cb, I can talk myself into playing. Last night, I was down to my last 10 bucks of the session, changed machines, threw it in, and on the third hand, got dealt 4 RF. Yea right I thought, held them, and BAM, MY FIRST ROYAL. on line 2. I screamed, and people thought I was crazy. Yea, its only $400, but man, after years and years of playing this damn game, to see for myself that a Royal actually CAN happen, it was great.
I cashed out and went to the bar for a beer, to enjoy my hit. Saw the .25 DDB progressive machine on the bar, thew a 20 in and BAMM, Ace's and a Kicker. Cashed out, and then noticed they had Joker Poker with a progressive for a RF and 5oak. Started playing that, not really knowing the game too well, I just thew 20 bucks into the .25 machine. Hit some 4oak, and continued playing. Up came a Joker and three 6's. Held them without thinking of it, then BAMM, the other 6 came up. So I thought cool, 1000 credits. But the meter kept climbing. It was then I realzied this 'short pay' Jokers game has a prgressive for a 5 of a kind that starts at $1000!!! I got $1082.00 for that 5 of a kind. HOLY CRAP, never ever had a day like this.
This game pays 4700 (starting) for a royal, 4000 (starting) for a 5oak, and 75 for a 4oak, 35 for a fh. and 25 for a flush.
Im trying to see if this might actually be a positve game in an indian casino!! Can someone offer some insight?>
WHOO HOOOO After a horrible horrible last year, to start this year off with 3 great hits within 1 hour really was nice. Im holding out, not going back for a while, and savor the rare moment where I actually came out ahead !!
