What's Up with MS this month?/ Pickem/ Thoughts

Have you or has anyone else received an invite to any of these tourneys? Do you know what the $$ are?

···

-------------- Original message --------------
1) There are a serious of slot tourneys at the end of the month, Sat & Sun Oct 22 & 23 I think

2) VIP Tickets come in 4 flavors: A,B,C, & "S". "S" I think stands for special-- usually that
means something like first row center, though more often than not, when I arrive near curtain
time, there are no tickets in my envelope (If you have ab A,B,or C tickets, when you arrive,
you just get whetever A,B, or C tickets are still unclaimed. Hence, they tell you the earlier you
arrive, the better your chances are; S tickets on the other hand are pre-assigned to you. But,
as I said before, they tend to be pre-stolen also!)

3) Over the last almost 10 years, the coin-out algorithms (and sounds on jackpots, etc) for
pick'em has changed quite a bit. I remember when neighboring machines did different
things! Oh well.

4) *** Anyone notice if the full-points are back for the $5 & $10 pick'em

I received an invite to the slot tournament. My first ever at MS! I
believe it is for October 17-19. It figures that I won't be in town
to try it. I'm leaving for Florida today. I've also received 3
invites to concerts - the most recent of which is during my
vacation. Oh well, what can you do? Here's hoping that they still
send me offers after I get back.

One other thing, I did receive the gas card last month but was only
able to use it 1 out of 2 times.

I did not pay attention to the slot tourney payout since I wasn't
going to be able to attend. However, I want to say that the top
prize was $10k but I could (probably) be mistaken. I have since
thrown the card away - sorry that I can't provide that information
for you.

I have only been playing the $ JOB recently; putting through roughly
5-6k per day sporadically (maybe 3 Fridays in a row). That's why I
think I'm getting offers but, who knows?!? Also, I did stay over 1
night in July and mixed it up between table games and JOB. Maybe
that was it? I just hope the invites keep coming!

I can't wait to check out the $ Pick'em machines after I get back!
I'm glad they put them back - I refused to play the short pay as did
a lot of other people. It seemed like every time I walked by the old
Poker Room, that bank had hardly a soul playing while the bank of
quarter machines was mostly full. There will probably be a waiting
line to get on them though. :frowning:

I heard from my favorite bartender, Debbie, in the VIP lounge that
there are rumblings of adding a new casino and maybe more hotel
space. I think she said the new casino was going to be called Fire
and Ice or something like that. We shall see.

Best wishes and Royals to all!
Jack

P.S. Thanks, haaljo, for talking about the VIP lounge several months
ago. I never thought I would be able to get in but after reading one
of your posts, I tried and they said yes. Sorry it's taken me this
long to acknowledge you. Thanks, again! Jack

How about a favorite bartender contest? Sandy would get my vote
with Darlene,Debbie and Burt as close runner-ups.Would love to add
PKM to my VP repertoir but love sitting at the bars and the vip
lounge.Stopped briefly at Foxwoods yesterday for the first time in a
year and unless you need exercise forget VP at FW. I live right near
there and drive past it 3-4 times a week on my way to the Sun.

My "Sagamore" SO was invited to a $50K MS tourney on October 22. The
invite said the same deal also on October 23. I called my "mid-roller
telephone-only host" to see if I could buy into same. She called back
and said no but I could attend a $10K tourney on one of three days -
10/17, 18, or 20(?). She said they typically have 250 in each
tourney. Not interested as EV is $40 range.
This morning I got an invite to a $25K tourney on 10/20, orb 21. I
called my host and she booked me for the 20th tourney with free hotel
room. She also said there was another one on the 25th(?). My wife got
a second night for 39 points so we will stay three nights at MS.
Wow, almost like going to Vegas and with the $1 PE back it now makes
sense to stay and play at MS rather than going to Vegas.
BTW Leaving tonight for Vegas and returning on Saturday afternoon.
Staying only 3 nights but need the trip to maintain Frequent Flyer
status on USAirways (previously America West). Frequent upgrades to
First Class that way.
USAirways also flies to Memphis from Boston. Airfare in the range of
$170. Looks like we are going to venture into Dixie in January and
checkout Vicksburg/Tunica Casinos.

She said they typically have 250 in each
tourney. Not interested as EV is $40 range.

MS usually has a series of tourneys within a few day of each other,
with different payouts (and qualification levels). The highest-roller
tourneys have 160 entrents or so. 40 people play at a time and there
are 3 levels. The payout total is "$50K" and is as follows:
   $30K
   $7.5K
   $3K
   $2K
   $1K
   5@ $500
   last 40 $100
Hence, your EV is $312 = $50,000/160. Moreover, you have a 25% chance
of making it to the finals an receiving $100. If you have $31,200
coin in that day, playing in the tourny increases your overall EV 1%.
That, plus 1.1% points makes even VP at MS playable. BTW, even for
the high roller who plays $100K+ coin in, the additional EV from the
slot tourney IS significant (you just have to play in enough of them
and hope that sooner or later you hit)

Aside: Would someone please check the $5 pick'em's?

Joel,
Both my wife and I were invited to 10-20 and-10-21. The prize money
is 25,000. We also were both invited to the cash giveaway of 40G. We
are going to the cash giveaway as it also came with a free room on
Friday night. Other than that, nothing else except for shows. I also
just email my host when I see the show on the web site before they
are sold out. She will also combine our play when the show has high
criteria that I don't qualify on my own like the Bon Jovi Show
Mel

Mel, The thread included a message that their are three tourneys
$50K, $25 and $10K. The message said to expect 160 peoples at the
$50K providing an E.V. of over $300. I am going to the $25K and my
host said to expect 250 people. My wife was invited to the $50K and
she is going to that as well. Interestingly, she is attracted to the
event because she is expecting a "free gift." She said they are
decent items like a coffee machine she got last year. I am interested
in going to see The Fixx and David Cassidy at the Wolf Den
I'll try to report back as to estimates of actual participants next
week.
Later next week back to Las Vegas for several Halloween Tournaments.

have a 20% chance of winning something. The ev is 200. I like that
better than the gas cards since we both get $50 and if we go twice
during the month the gas only comes to a total of about 70. I will
keep you posted how we make out
