Who is this nasty Skip Hughes, anyway?
Keep a civil tongue in your head. Skip Hughes was a pioneer in VP groups on the internet.

I have to agree with both Annie and Jim, Skip was a pioneer. He started the first meetings in Las Vegas for players who enjoyed video poker and had a lot in common. Some very good relationships were formed from that group and his internet site. Most of us are the "old" members of this list, who were there 12 years ago and now rarely comment. Best wishes to Skip.
Cheers!

Sorry to hear that. I mainly lurk here, but I was a subscriber to Skip's newsletter and website back in the early days. He gave me the tools to become a successful VP player, and to maximize both my returns and my comps. To this day, I remain a successful, while casual, VP player.
I wish him the best.

He's in the VPFree Hall of fame. If there's a health issue, I wish him a rapid recovery.

Hi,
I tried to email him but it bounced back. If any locals in Vegas had any further information, please feel free to email me privately. Yes, Skip was a pioneer in video poker. Like others I am one of the old timers and attended many of the annual get together in Vegas. I made many friends at these gathering and one in particular has become a life long friend. Speedy recovery Skip we need our fearless leader back on his feet!
Best wishes to all, prosperity and good health.

Well stated Andrew.
Something about this situation doesn't make sense. Skip hasn't posted on his own group since December of last year and it's now been, what, four months since VPP has been released? His business "partner" at RGE either doesn't know, or isn't being clear, with the the specifics.
One would think that if Skip has been out of commission with health issues for this long that someone (like a business partner?) would communicate to his customers on his behalf. It just doesn't make sense that someone as well known as Skip could just disappear with no one knowing exactly what's going on. He's been more than fair with me through the years so I'm not trying to be critical here I'm just trying to figure out what's going on.
Skip, or friends of Skip, if you're out there please let us longtime followers know what the 411 is.

RGE certainly isn't trying to hide anything. Skip did not respond to any of our emails, phone calls, etc. for over a month before I received a brief email from him with the subject heading "I'm not dead" that stated only that he was ill. Follow-up attempts to reach him since that email some time ago never resulted in any response. If he hadn't moved away awhile back, I would have driven to his house and pounded down the door checking in on him! He has simply disappeared without any other explanation.
If anyone, anywhere, knows anything, we'd certainly love to know what's going on. But we are currently as out of the loop as anyone else. No cover-up going on here!

Bettie,
Thank you for your explanation. I don't think anyone is directly making accusation. We are just concern about Skip's health and/or his where about. Maybe, he would rather keep his health condition private and we should all respect that. But, no one has any current news about him and we were just wondering. In fact his MIA brought out a lot of old timers from the woodwork. So you could see we are just concern for another human being and that's it. Many of us cut our teeth in video poker because of him. I also refer to him as our "fearless leader". We use to have annual get together in Vegas where many war stories were exchanged and everlasting friendship were made. I don't think posters is making any accusation or implying anything we are all just concern that we have not hear from Skip or his where about. Hope you understand.
Respectfully,
CLee

Bettie, thanks for the clarification on behalf of RGE. This certainly makes the situation appear even more bizarre. Those that subscribed to VPP the past few years have read their fair share of reasons, on an almost monthly basis, why the periodical was late being published so it's almost like a precedent was set back then. Something about the facts, as stated, almost give the appearance that we're going to have a Paul Harvey moment at some point in the future.
Has anyone that has emailed VPP/Skip regarding refunds/information received any reply?

I have also been around from the beginning and fondly remember Skip. Still have my pin.

Most of us who have been reading and posting on this forum for
many years, have had excellent help and instruction from Skip.
Skip has a great sense of humor. It was always a treat to read
his posts. I sincerely hope that he is able to provide us with
his wisdom and insight soon again.
I also seldom post anymore either.
Why is that?
~Babe~
JAS,
I also still have my "Skip Hughes Group" pin. Yellow with red lettering. I had every copy of the VP Insider until last year when I shredded them and forgot to scan them and put them on a CD...duhhh
All the best,
CLee
