Whatever! -- was [vpFREE] Bashing on another Web site

I can't believe the private hate mail this comment generated.

Since Jean markets her wares on every post some consider it advertising. The moderator ended the thread yet once again allows Jean the last word. So my comment was directed at both of them.

For those of you that don't know me I've been playing vp for almost 20 years and am not a follower of any of the self proclaimed gurus. I personally don't follow Jeans frugal teachings. My room, food and air is comped so coupons don't interest me.

Dancer's ramblings on saving a nickel with penalty/interference cards bore me. If I'm down 4K after a few hours of double bonus I could really give a rip about a few quarters.

As for RS, I do read him and to be honest enjoy his writings. I consider him a colorful character...that doesn't necessarily mean that I agree with his method of playing.

In closing I guess that as long as Jean promotes her products on every post she will remain a target by some. If I were her I'd be posting a hell of a lot more...with a membership of 4,000 theres $$$'s
to be had

Scott has always been given more latitude than anyone else on vpFREE. Tom
owns the site and can do whatever he wants. I have no problem with that.
Most people are afraid to cross Scott. Some fear the social pressure and
simply "go along to get along". Many others fear her vindictiveness.

You have no problem with that?? Then why the bellyaching that she got the last word there?

Moderation on vpFREE concentrates on maintaining a civil,
nondisruptive environment. Latitude acorded to individuals
is difficult to assess by observors because most of the
moderation occurs after the fact.

I attempt to apply vpFREE rules and policies even handedly
to all members, but I suspect that I have allowed Jean Scott
less latitude than most. To accurately judge the amount of
latitude allowed particular members you would have to be
privy to all of the behind the scenes, private email
moderation that goes on, and you aren't.

I stand by my original statement. Judging only by the posts that see the light of day, I think an objective observer would find that Scott gets has more latitude than most posters. Of course most of her posts are simply ads for her products and I'm not even counting those.

Sir, to say you are clueless would be the understatement of the year.

Maybe it's just my 'cluelessness', but I think that a _truly_ objective observer would not hold the person being observed in utter contempt, as you seem to do with Jean Scott.

... would find that Scott gets has more latitude than most posters. Of course most of her posts are simply ads for her products and I'm not even counting those.

I guess I've missed something. Yes, Jean has frequently made reference to her products during the course of discussion (her new tax book, as an example). I don't recall that Jean started those threads as some sort of a marketing ploy, and she is as entitled to participate in the discussions as any of us. Her replies has always seemed on-topic and on-point to me, usually helpful, and given with politeness and good manners. Perhaps there have been times when she has provided only a 'taste' -- a free sample -- from her book, but so what. I don't expect her to post her whole book, and it's not like she said: "I have the exact answer, but you need to buy my book to find out."

As for Tom -- first of all, I think he does a dandy job; second, _I_ haven't seen any evidence of partiality; and third, it _HIS_ website, IIRC, so I guess he's entitled to handle it any way he sees fit -- and I've got no problem with that. If I did, I would just leave, and it seems to me that anyone who is incapable of understanding that last point is actually the clueless one, and in that vein I will repeat the question I asked in my last post in this thread, which you just side-stepped by calling me clueless:

Finally, I'm sure that I'll probably read your reply to this, but please don't expect further posts from me on this subject because I've got more important things to do.
