What would you have done?

Hi Brett,

Good point. However, I've had genuine wins that did
not register in the computer and I would have been
very miffed if I hadn't been paid. If the machine
shows the win and the computer does not I think they
tend to decide in favor of the player because it
happens if not regularly then at least every so often.
I also think they have very little experience with
criminal activity around the machine area short of
people stealing each other's coins/credits/money.
Usually criminals concentrate on table games; not so
long ago a gang was busted that had fabricated false
chips.

When I had a royal in a Dutch casino this March of
2,000 euros (yay!) it took three minutes and one
attendant to pay me. When I had a royal of $ 1,476.30
in Vegas this June (yay again!) it took 45 minutes,
three attendants and two supervisors. Not that I'm
complaining about this, I understand it took longer
because I'm a nonresident alien and they had to check
the whole tax free thing, but I also think that
security (at least on the floor) in Vegas casinos is
much stricter - probably because they have cause to
be.

If anyone now feels they have to rush over to come and
play tax free VP in the Netherlands, save yourself the
trouble; with the occasional very rare exception there
are no positive games here. I mostly play for fun and
at the moment don't play at all as I'm more interested
in saving my money for Vegas where the good games are!

I totally agree. BUT...

Don't most casinos have some sort of disclaimer that

says, "We reserve

the
right to refuse payment of jackpots due to machine

malfunction", or

something like that? If this was the case, (In a

way, it was... The

machine was not reset, and they had no record of the

win), shouldn't

they
have erred on the side of caution and said, "Sorry,

your play here was

invalid because we can't validate your win"?

The would-be thief probably would have left, without

much fanfare.
