Hi Curtis,
My home casino is actually in the Netherlands. I used
to live in the UK, still partly do, but VP in the UK
is I believe non-existent (if it's not, I'd like to
hear about it!). The few casinos I've visited in the
UK have mostly table games with about 5 slot machines
added into the mix.
The casino where this happened is owned by the state.
I imagine the worst that could have happened to the
guy is that they called the police on him. I don't
think this happened though. I think they may have
questioned him and depending on his answers 86d him
for a year (if he got offered the money) or maybe for
the rest of his life (if he actively tried to collect
it). I'm completely sure he wasn't physically harmed
in any way.

Hi Karen.
Thanks for clarifying. I apologize for thinking
that your story
sounded fishy.
Originally, you posted, "....a guy sitting behind us
won a large
jackpot on another VP machine. He was paid and
happily left."
It sounded like the guy was paid *for the jackpot*
and then
happily left. But, now you have clarified that the
guy was
awarded credits on the machine for his jackpot and
he
was paid for all of his credits, not just the
jackpot.
I assume (from your email address) that your home
casino
(where this incident took place) is in the UK. I
never knew that
all winnings in the UK are tax free. That's great!

I still would have kept my mouth shut. Primarily
because I
wouldn't know what the guy might do in retaliation
and I just
don't want to play "security officer" for the
casino.
Also in your original post, you said, "Before long
they asked
the guy to accompany them to a backroom and that was
the
end of it." What do you suppose happened to the guy
in the
backroom? If he really did just happen to sit a the
machine,
without even knowing about the pay-out not being
cleared, and
with no intention of asking for the money until they
approached
ยทยทยท
him, I hope nothing too serious happened to him.
Curtis
