What would you have done?

Casinos are businesses like any other, as far as I'm concerned. And they
should be held accountable for any illegal or unethical activity, just as any
other business should.

People who think that the standards should be different (for casinos) are
people I will never think of a friends. Apparently, you are in this category.

I was trying to be humorous, where you didn't expect it.

I agree with Brian on this, although at this point we are really
taking stands on the issue of "Moral Relativism."

It's the old grocery store change question---if you got more change
than you were entitled to, would you give it back, and why? Some
people say heck no, some people (including anal me) would drive back
to the store to give it back for purely ethical reasons, probably
the plurality of folks would give it back because they think the
clerk would have to make up the difference; i.e., it's ok to take
from the institution but not the individual.

The problem I have with that is profiting by a technical error by an
employee doesn't just hurt the business, it hurts all the employees,
owners, and yes, the CUSTOMERS in the end. If a casino puts out a
promotion that happens to be juicy, and certain people are able to
take more advantage than others, fine. But when some tech makes an
error giving a severe advantage not intended by the casino, that's
something else. In the Caesar's Indiana article, the woman who saw
the situation and reached around the other people to jam a $100 bill
in and take out the $1000 voucher is a common thief, IMO.

The difference with the casino is that many people see the casino as
thieves themselves, with no more motivation than to steal all your
money from you, if possible, and therefore we're really engaged in a
war with a bloodthirsty enemy and all is fair. I really don't
believe that is the case.
