What Will Happen To vpFREE

I don't post much but am a faithful reader. I thank all those that
take the time to post regulaly as you are the core that make these
forums possible.

A couple years ago I posted a thread that said the day of full pay
machines are numbered. I had three replies and all disagreed saying
that it might disappear on the strip but the "local" casinos would
need these higher paying VP machines as a leader to draw customers to
their place of business.
Since that post we can all now see what lies on the horizon. Not only
are games being downgraded everywhere (including local joints) but
also disappearing are cashbacks. Some have been downgraded while
others are offering free play in lieu of cashback. It will get worse
in the future as this is just the start.

Casinos don't make their money on the pros and could care less
whether or not you frequent their establishment. Casino money is made
on the misinformed tourist who has never heard of perfect play and
who has no idea of the paytables. Much bigger money is made on slot
play and that is where the average visitor spends most of their time.
Of course money is made on all other aspects of the resort but full
pay video poker serves no purpose any more. (Just my opinion)

So that brings me to my question about these fourms.

Assuming my thesis is correct what will become of vpFREE? Will you
well informed people continue to post. If so what will the topics be
like or about? Will you all still be playing VP in a year, five years
or ten years from now?

I have noticed a change in the past year on this forum and that is
the talk of many things that have nothing to do with VP. Moderators
seem to be letting a bit more discussion on other topics and that is
fine with me as it is generally interesting to most gamblers.

Again I want to thank all those that post. Never have I read threads
from a more informed group. You guys really now your stuff.
I enjoy the humor of people like JT, Babe...the honesty of posters
like Karen and Krallison and the book like answers of Harry Potter!
I feel the warmth of Jean Scott in her writing style and can tell she
is a genuinely nice person who has not let fame go to her head.
(thanks Jean). Bob Dancer is consistant. He pulls no punches. What
you see is what you get. While I don't always agree with Bob his
knowledge is second to none. Every article is scrutinized by this
group so Bob has to always be on guard. But he always answers the
bell and takes his criticism with a decent amount of class. He has my
respect.

There are many others who I failed to mention but your contributions
help to make this forum what it is....the best VP place on the net. I
hope it always stays alive.

Thank you everyone

those that take the time to post regulaly as you are the core that
make these forums possible.

Mr. Warm, "Stay" if may address you in the familiar context, we
sincerely thank you for being a faithful reader of our scribblings!
What would be the use of our posting if it were not for the good
folks like you?

A couple years ago I posted a thread that said the day of

full pay machines are numbered. I had three replies and all
disagreed..................

One of the things that makes this forum great, are the many
divergent opinions on every subject known to mankind, occasionally,
on a good day, even encompassing VP!!

Assuming my thesis is correct what will become of vpFREE?

Will you well informed people continue to post.

I don't accept your thesis, however, assuming that I did, I can tell
you that I will continue to post. As a faithful reader you are
probably already aware that I have an opinion on every subject known
to man. If I don't, it's quite easy for me to make something up on
the spur of the moment! (O:

If so what will the topics be like or about?

====================================================
Well, we could always go another 9 rounds on smoking in casinos. Or
perhaps, how many points WYNN is charging for a buffet. Another
popular topic might be taxis vs. public transportation from the
airport. If requested, JT and I might do a joint venture on another
casino to replace the ill-fated LEWS, which closed earlier this year.

Will you all still be playing VP in a year, five years

or ten years from now?

Do you know how old I am? I hope that I'm still vertical in 5 or 10
years! If I am, you can be sure that I'll still be spending an
inordinate amount of time, doing what I love best, playing Video
Poker!

I enjoy the humor of people like JT, Babe...the honesty of

posters like Karen and Krallison and the book like answers of Harry
Potter!.............

I am more than flattered to be put in the same humorous company as
JT! BTW, it's Harry PORTER! Karen (krallison) is a very good
friend of mine, and I couldn't agree more!

I feel the warmth of Jean Scott in her writing style and

can tell she is a genuinely nice person who has not let fame go to
her head.

I certainly agree with you there!

Bob Dancer is consistant. He pulls no punches. What

you see is what you get........

Again, I think that you're right on!

There are many others who I failed to mention but your

contributions help to make this forum what it is....the best VP
place on the net. I hope it always stays alive.

I'm sure that you'll hear from the ones whom you "failed to mention"
sooner rather than later!

I agree that vpFREE is the BEST VP forum on the net. I attribute
most of this to our marvelous present and former administrators.

I also believe, that, just as there will "always be an England"
there will always be a vpFREE!

Best regards,
~Babe~

Will you all still be playing VP in a year, five years
or ten years from now?

I know I will still be going to Vegas because the mystique still draws
me in regardless if it is business or vacation. I hate the slow pace
of table games and slots downright bore me so I know I will continue to
play vp. I moan and groan when the pay tables are downgraded, try to
shift my strategy accordingly, but still keep on playing. As I read in
a book on vp somewhere, vp is my crack cocaine. I would like to think
I would play lower denomination machines if the paytables got too bad,
but somehow I felt very cheated the one time I hit a royal flush on a
nickle vp machine and only got $200, so for the time being quarter and
fifty cent machines it is for me.

Now if the free room offers suddenly stop, that is a whole new topic
that would make me think twice about the frequency in which I go to
Vegas...

I'm not sure the current demise is nothing more than a short term
phenomena. We all understand that concept  Las Vegas has done so
well the last few years that competition is almost negligible.
Building is still on the increase. What happens during the next
recession is anybody's guess but you can be sure the casinos will do
whatever is necessary to attrack the smaller customer base. That
likely will include much better paytables.

Personally, my top plays are the same as they were 3 1/2 years ago
when I came to Vegas. I've had secondary plays come and go since then
but they are not much different then they were, just at different
casinos. I don't have enough time to play every positive opportunity
even with the downgrades. So, for now, I'm not worried and I'm not
even sure there is any real "long term" trend.

You make good points but I just don't see casinos in the future going
back to better pay tables. Probably many new poker games lie in the
horizon. Time will tell.

I hope you are right
