What to play at Mandalay?

Hey all,
This weekend I'll be at the Mandalay and I know the machines are
lousy and I yes, I checked the database but I was wondering what
people like/recommend I do play there since I do want to play some
there. Thanks in advance.

Aaron

I played there a little in March on the "Big Bang Piggy Bankin'". There
were lots of them there at that time and it was possible to find some with
positive banks. I can't remember the criteria right now, but it's in
Charles Lund's books on winning at slots.

Are drinks generally comped if playing VP at the bar? I always
assumed that any drinks ordered at bars would have to be paid for
whether playing or not...

I did notice the article about Mandalay no longer comping drinks at
the bar. That being said, since all the database lists are 9/6 db,
should I assume even the high limit doesn't have any 9/6 JOB at even
the $5 level? Also, this 9/6 db listed, is that the 96% or 97%
payback as I believe there are variations. Thanks

It depend's. In Atlantic City, some do and some dont. The BBar at Borgota comp's drinks for player's, and they serve some good booze. <g> The Mountain Bar at Wild Wild west doesn't, so you have to pay through the nose even if your playing.

I think that's a good assumption.

AFAIK they are 25c 9/6/5 DB PROG which reset
at 97.81%.

Just a supplemental observation about this progressive. The beauty of
it (consisting of something like 3 different banks dispersed through
the casino), is that the meters move FAST! (well, at least as of my
last stay a couple of years ago). It's a 4-way progressive -- meters
on the RF, SF, Q-Aces, and Q-2,3,4.

On a busy weekend, active play can provide 2 or 3 extended periods a
day during which the ER is near, or over, 100%.

But I've never even tried to establish myself there. I just dabble
when attractive and enjoy myself at the pool with my wife. We book on
attractive internet rates well in advance and take advantage of a
relatively reasonable last-minute suite upgrade (offered for something
like an add'l $35/night midweek) when available at check-in.

It's a nice change from what otherwise tends to be hard and heavy
strip play for us during the week.

Most of the places I go comp the drinks at the bar if
you are playing the bartops!!
