I have read a book by Singer and articles on his web page. He claims a ninety
percent win record and over half million in winnings. Although his thinking
is unconventional by mainstream standards and there is a personality conflict
among the "gurus" I see no reason to dismiss his strategy.
What is wrong with Singer's "strategy" is that he has never offered a strategy. He offers only tactics, such as "if you lose on the quarter games, switch to a dollar machine." He has acknowledged to me in writing that he has nothing to offer as an alternative to the computer-derived strategies published by myself and several other analysts.
Suppose I were to claim a 99% win record. Could anyone disprove it?
Aside from your personal feelings about the man..what problem do you have
with his method of play?
I met Singer once, and our meeting was cordial. The only thing I have against Singer personally is that I think he knows he's selling only snake oil.
I am disappointed with Gambler's Book Club for publishing his book. Granted, they have hundreds of books on their shelves that promote similar tactics. The difference in Singer's book is that most of it is a diatribe against analysts. It's very similar to the mud-slinging going on in the current political campaigns.
Regarding his method of play: Over the course of several hundred years, hundreds of mathematicians have proven that such tactics can not improve your chances of winning, and the sad experiences of thousands of gamblers have verified this. I feel sorry for the poor souls who gamble away their money following such tactics.
As far as I know Rob has not flown an airplane into any casino lately.
That comment was a non-sequitur.
