Does any enlightened soul know what a VP machine cost the casino and what
becomes of them after they become old or obsolete?

Don't know about new, you might check the IGT website. The Gamblers General Store on Main St. in Las Vegas sells some used ones, I think about $1500 or so for the cheapest one.

A year ago, I bought a 1993 IGT slantop multigame with 9/5 DDB, NBP,
FPJP, 16/11 DD, 10/7 DB for $999.
It is a 25c machine with hopper and has a dollar bill feeder (old bills
$1-$100).

Game Kings run about $15,000 (give or take).

I believe that a great number of them are donated to the Pennsylvania
American Legion halls.

all at one time that if you hit a royal on certain machines at I think the Poker Palace Casino that you got the machine too (I don't know how they handled if your state didn't allow ownership of them). It must be 25 years now since VP was hatched, thus perhaps at the Gambler's Book club one might be able to buy one soon if theya re from california (requires machine to be 25 years old or more.)
