What Does Your VP Machine Know About YOU?

A host once told me she knew exactly what I played, how long I played and my net result.

This is not new information to any of us. Your slot card can relay all of that and then some.

And it's the "and then some" I've been thinking about lately.

Could VP machines (via the slot card) calculate and then convey our accuracy? And could these results influence our comps, offers, etc.?

Just wondering.

Certainly they could. But they don't. There is no software available to do this.

"MindPlay" is a system, partially backed by the Reno Eldorado, that does this for blackjack, but I concur with Bill that I know of no system yet for video poker.

That would be YES! The end result is what the promotions
department decides to do with the information. For example: NOTHING(which is what I am finding), delete you from the mailing list, or some where in the middle. I have been getting some unbelievable free stay/play offers from the off strip casinos. I have been a 100%+ advantage play(5-10k daily) from out of town for over 10 years(they have to know and are digging deep for players). This year has been good to me. The good offers, however, come and go. Enjoy it while it lasts!

It must do something like that because a major casino in Vegas called and told us we would not be offered "comps" anymore because we are what they called "exceptional players". Hummmmm.

It doesn't require that a casino have direct knowledge about your play accuracy to make that assessment.

If you've recorded (for example) 20 visits to a casino and they don't find themselves appreciably in the plus column, after consideration of promos, comps, etc., that clearly makes you an "exceptional player". Even factoring luck, few players find themselves so distinguished. Most game odds are such that it's difficult to win out over the casino in the medium haul.

That doesn't speak to whether you are actually sufficiently skilled to maintain that position with the casino. Luck certainly can rule in exceptional situations. However, if you tend to only play machine banks on which the best games are inventoried, presumption can rule against you.

Years ago I was hustling a coin-in promotion at the silverton and a host sat down next to me to discuss it at 8:00 AM.

Joe - I'd like to hear the whole story, what was the promo, and what did the host say?

The promoyion was simple. The most coin-on that day won the top prize, I think $5K down to as I remember fifth place for $1K, I put in a little over $100K that day and was the lowest to cash, the $1K prize. Cost me about $3K although one side benefit is I was considered a mini-whale there for a couple of years afterwards. The host whom is no longer there, she followed her fiancee someplace out of town agreed to give me all my drawing tickets the following Wednesday, which if memory serves was a double point day. While I was waiting for her at the the small bar that no longer exists I hit the $1 9/6 JOB progressive so it ended better than it began. What surprised me at the time was that they were evaluating my play at 8:00 AM (I was still on Dallas time and had gotten up around 2:00 AM that morning). We discussed how I was doing, which I knew meant little as I was pretty sure no one else had been hitting the machines for some six hours already that
morning.>

I thought I did but guess I don't know how to post a reply yet. New at this, so hope you understand. The casino is Sam's Town. Hope this time this works!

Sure....played the $5.00 progressive against wall, BP, $1.00 progressive in the middle, BP. Played all over ST pretty much for about 6 months last year and again this year.

Yes, the "aces" system from IGT can, but is not popular as IGT charges a bundle for the service. The Boyd Connection Club might be using it.

HMMMMM ?

Just wondering.

Me too.

M J

Info from IGT K1 filed with SEC when IGT bought out the company that owned the player tracking system to settle a lawsuit , sound familar ?? see 3-5 play.

While I have never had dealings with IGT (except the IGT Advantage system when it was still called Acres and Mariposa which they acquired) I am reasonably familiar with what is on the market. I have never heard of "aces" nor is there any reference either on IGT's web site nor is there anything when you Google. Can you elaborate?

Also, Boyd Gaming uses Bally ACSC casino management software for slot tracking, not IGT software.
