Locals probably will get better mailings with local addresses from Coast,
Stations, Venetian, Wynn, Palms, SouthPoint. However, if you still want free
room offers from these, or room plus RFB, you might still want an out of town
address, since those people will get room offers but not the "locals mailers"
which have extra free play and food offers.
For Harrah's properties you probably will want an out of town address.
Locals get few if any Vegas offers for tournaments, free Visa/Macys cards, and
the like. If you are a small player though, Vegas locals will get weekly
offers on the order of "play 100 points, get $25" or "play 100 points, get $50" -
amounts are dependent on how much you play. These offers can be valuable,
but if you only play 100 or low amount of points and then leave, your next
month's offers will be drastically reduced. Overall I would rather get offers
for $300 in Macy's cards or slot tournaments or spa weekends or whatever,
rather than the extra $25 a week.
For Planet Hollywood, local is fine. For MGM/Mirage properties, use out of
town.
If you qualify for RFB and like to eat a lot, rather than just get small
amounts of food via a "locals" mailer, you might be better off with a out of
town address. However once you move to Vegas you will find a lot of free food
if you play, so the locals mailers (when available) with free play plus food
are probably preferable.
Note Wynn has generous extra free play for locals players, especially if you
play reels. But you won't get invites to their slot tournaments or
end-of-year gift thing unless you play a lot (like at least 4000 points per month and
ask for a host's help in getting into the tournaments).
If you have 2 addresses but only one ID, just give the address you prefer
and tell them, "I own two houses" or "I own a condo in Vegas." I've found that
acceptable. Ideally you will have someone at your 2nd address who can
forward important mail to you, otherwise your offers may arrive late.
I think you are best off to have a Drivers License and ID for whatever is
your legal residence, so your tax and any jury duty etc. will be directed to the
correct location (presumably the location where you spend the most time).
People with 2 homes, however, might want to consider the advantages of having
NV as your legal residence, since there is no state income tax (though you
may end up having to file in both states anyway - one as a non-resident,
depending on where you are working/getting income). Other factors in choosing your
"legal residence" may include where you can get the lowest car insurance
rates, your health insurance, etc.
