It has been quite a while since I read this book, but I recall finding
the
author incredibly naïve on the subject of gambling… or perhaps I mean
credibly naïve. He even used the often ridiculed, “crack cocaine of
gambling” phrase. Ultimately, as I recall, the tale dealt as much with
the
seductiveness of the action and distortion of common attitudes and
values
that a gambler may have as it did with the adventure and bankroll swings
of
a roller. Those who liked this book might also like Blackjack Autumn by
Barry Meadow.

Sorry. I have not read “Whale Hunt.” That was my 2 bit assessment of
“24/7.” I read it a couple of years ago so it is not exactly fresh in my
mind.
