Well it's not a progressive

I don't think I can top that one, but about 10 years ago at the Gold Coast, a woman playing at the 50 cent DB machine to my left was playing five coins (max) one hand, then four coins the next, then five, then four, and so on. Do I even have to tell you what happened? And then she was upset about it!

So I tell her hold the deuce, she says why should I hold the deuce. So I say
louder, HOLD THE DEUCE, she says I don't think I need to hold the deuce. She
hits the deal button before I could show her the pay table and draws a 10. Her
2000 credits go down to 800 and she looks at me and says, I guess I should have
held the deuce. What a freaken moron. I actually felt bad for her.

Can anyone beat that?

Playing DDB accidentally held two 4's when I had 2 pair and got the other 4's
with a kicker for 2280. Sometimes it pays to be stupid

I think I can top it. At the Circus Circus on a Rapid 5-Way quarter, I saw an enemy team player get dealt a pat royal flush. He held all five cards paused...considered...paused some more...un-held all 5 cards...paused again...re-held 4 of the five cards, and quickly hit deal draw.

My team hit the meter about 15 min later for $7,800 and a nice win. Apparently it was about a $15,000 loss for the Rock Opera, and was the last 5-Way play I ever saw them on.

To this day I don't know if it was an accident or deliberate, since Tommy's team only payed hourly, (no bonus for Jackpots) hitting a Jackpot just cut your hours.

Weird..because I've got DEALT a Royal, and it instantly held the cards and started paying off, I wouldn't think it'd let you UNHOLD the cards...

That's always been my experience too, but it may not always have been
the case. In particular a slot tech once told me it was a configurable option on at least some machines, and he had witnessed a high-denomination dealt royal where the player had to hold the cards manually. This conversation was maybe 7-8 years ago FWIW.

He saw a vegas visitor playing $1 DDB single play. The guy was dealt AAAA2 and got so excited that he held all 5 cards and hit the DRAW button. The lights went on and the music started playing so the guy said "Oooops! Why did I held that 2?" and had to run away as fast as he can. Turned out the guy is WANTED and does not want to go back to jail or get deported back to his country.

Modern machines lockout on dealt royals. These were first generation Bally's 5000 6-coin rapid 5-way's. This is going back about 17 years.

OK you win. New thread.

I've actually been privy to similar stupidity, but I believe that one takes the cake.

This was actually a pretty common thing in the heyday of advantage slots. Illegal Chinese emigrants worked the advantage slots in Nevada, Connecticut, New Jersey, Illnois, Michigan, Iowa, and probably other locations. They would monopolize entire casinos. And they had a problem with W2-G jackpots. When one of them made such a hit, if no one in their crew had I.D., they would simply walk away from the machine.

Other than the I.D. thing they were a fairly well organized and networked bunch. If one of them lost Motor City and another lost Foxwoods, they would simply swap locations. They were the bane of many American hustlers. Wherever there was a good bank of advantage slots they would camp out on the spot whether the machines were getting action or not. MGM Las Vegas was a prime example. They had someone posted up on every advantage slot bank in the casino--except for the wee hours of the morning when the action was slim to none. The short of it was no one else could get a play. Slot operations eventually got tired of them. One day Security rounded up about 20 of them and marched them all out the door.

You would think if they were smart enough to spot an advantage play, they
could figure out how to get paid on these hand pays since that is the ultimate
goal.
