OK, I will start the ball rolling. This is sort of exciting, being
the first member to post a message on a new group.

My wife, aka Lucky Lucy, and I live in Leavenworth. We are both
retired, me from Ft Leavenworth and her from a military uniform
company. We have been gamblers since the river boats hit Kansas City
and have watched the industry grow from humble beginnings to the Las
Vegas style casinos they are today. We also make two or three trips
to Las Vegas each year.

At first we were infrequent visitors to the river boats and played
only slots. (That's not quite true, the very first river boats didn't
have slots, only video poker. They could only offer games of skill
and not games of chance). Of course we steadly lost money. Then I
read an article about video poker and how it would at least stretch
our gambling money if not actually come out ahead. So we decided if
we were going to gamble we might as well make the best of it. We got
a copy of Bob Dancer's Winpoker and started practicing. Today we are
both hooked on VP can hold our own with most playable games in Kansas
City.

At first we won big time. While we were still working and had two pay
checks coming in, we could afford to gamble at a higher level. One
memorable trip to Las Vegas netted us over $9000. But, alas, those
days are gone and we are now mostly at the quarter level -- still
having a lot of fun, though.

We hit the 'boats' three or four days a week and have concentrated our
play at Harrah's and Ameristar. Overall, we like Harrah's better but
believe Ameristar has better cash back and comps. Harrah's can get
pretty crowded and smoky on weekends so we try to avoid the busy times.

Looking forward to reading about great wins in the KC area from fellow
members.

Hi...

I'll be next. My name is Steve, and my wife is Karie. I am a reporter, and Karie is an assistant manager of a pizza place. We live in Topeka. We make occasional visits to Kansas City, with our favorite is Ameristar. Our favorite version of VP is multistrike, when we can get a seat at the few machines at Ameristar. We have also played Harrah's and the Isle.

We probably make more trips to the Indian casinos up north, just because they are closer. We also recently discovered a quarter craps (a new addiction...lol) game at Sac N Fox. We are low budget gamblers who take advantage of every freebee we can get our hands on.

Just an idea...the Vegas bunch gets together for lunch on a regular basis. Maybe we could set up a VPFree lunch in KC. It would be interesting to meet the people whos posts we read, and maybe share a tip or two.

I look foward to the growth of the regional group.

I think lunch would be a great idea, probably at a casino. Hope we get some more responses and can get a group together.

Speaking of Multi-Strike, a few days ago in Harrah's I heard some people celebrating to my right. I looked over and the guy playing a MS had hit the big kabonza on the top row for (ready for this) 34,000 coins -- $8,000 on a quarter VP machine! It's enough to make a person give up Jacks or Better.

I'm a St. Louis veteran, but I do make a couple trips to KC per year,
so I joined the group too.

Many thanks to Julie for filling me in on the VP 'scene' back in May
when we made our first KC trip. Julie suggested we contact Mary
Johnson (a host) at Harrahs KC prior to coming down. I can say that,
without a doubt, she is the best host we've ever had at ANY casino.
It's too bad her hands are somewhat tied by the new Total scRewards
II system.

KC is an AA players dream, which is why we've made a couple trips
there. Too bad the AA in STL is now limited to a grand total of 4
machines at the President.

If any of you make a visit to STL, feel free to drop me an email and
I'll give you the current status on VP.

Is there FP MultiStrike in KC?

There are a few MS machines in Harrah's and Ameristar. I can't comment on the other two as we rarely visit them. Harrah's has a couple in nickels and a couple in 25 cent. The nickel ones are always in use. Ameristar has a few more, maybe 6 or 8 in nickel, also very popular. If and when you are heading this way, let me know and I will do a better inventory and give you the locations.
