Welcome back, son

I knew he couldn't stay away.
Seems to to me, you see this a lot on newsgroups and mailing lists, in
particular following dramatic "you won't have me to kick around anymore" departing
postings.

Now, the next predicable development in this saga will be.......

I will do what I wish, including posting to this board, the
likelihood of my doing so having doubled since I now know it will
annoy you. Have a nice day.

You "knew" nothing of the kind. You "thought" something, had an
opinion, and may or may not have been right. Time will tell.

Seems to to me, you see this a lot on newsgroups and mailing lists,

Yes, and you see a lot of self-aggrandizing posters whose only
contribution is to criticize and demean OTHER posters. Are you in
this category? Or do you have anything substantive to contribute?

Now, the next predicable development in this saga will be.......

Oh, please, oh, sage one, don't deprive us of the shining light of
the wisdom of your next "predicion". What will happen next???

Actually, since I can perform a true and noble service for at least
one member of humankind--that of perhaps providing you with the
orgasmic pleasure of being RIGHT (and how seldom must that be!)--
maybe I WILL return to the board.

Then later you say...

Pot. Kettle. Black.

You whine about people criticizing and demeaning other posters,
and at the same time your own posts often drip with sarcasm and
comments that amount to the very type of thing of which you
complain. Seems to me that you spew at least as much venom
as you receive.

I hope you stick around and keep posting, you have valuable things
to contribute. But grow thicker skin. If you want the net to be a
"kinder, gentler" place, then either set a shining example for the
rest of us or spare us the hypocrisy.

You're soooo touchy. Anytime anyone challanges one of your
misshapened thoughts you get on your high horse bout how low brow
your critcs are and decry their nastiness. On the whole, you
contribution hasn't been all that much, really. Personally, I don't
mind if you don't come back.

OK, Steve, was the post I replied to a shining example of tact and
civility? Or is innuendo and sarcasm perfectly acceptable as long as
it's directed at me?

I take the gloves off when someone insults or tries to demean me. If
someone addresses me with insulting language I have no problem
responding in kind. The DIFFERENCE, which you seem to miss (or
ignore), is that these people are rude and insulting at the START.

Perhaps I should ignore these people, or "turn the other cheek". But
I've had a snootful of people who can't disagree with me without the
personal characterizations.
