After almost two years away, we are returning to the greatness that
is Vegas in early August. Through a freak set of coincidences we
were able to get airline vouchers and free room offers that made the
trip a Marlon Brando (couldn't refuse). The wife is already beaten
down by my premature obsessing on how we are going to attack and
conquer the casinos yet again. Or at least have a helluva a lot of
fun trying, yet again.
It seems we bring the kiss of death when we try to establish
ourselves at a casino. We finally made the switch to VP as our game
of choice by hitting the triple play JoB and NSUD at NYNY. Just as
we were told, the offers starting pouring in. We jumped on what we
thought was the first decent offer, which of course was followed by
many better offers. But, whatta you gonna do, right? And it was fun
being treated like a VIP. Once we got there, though, not only are
the triple plays downgraded, but there isn't one full pay machine at
the $0.25 level. I end up playing the 9/5 JoB w/26 for 4 of a kind
progressives and actually hit my first two royals on the same hand.
Our last trip we stayed at the Stardust to try and get established
there. And that's not just because Jean got started there either.
Actually
we were getting married at the Rio and my wife's parents were going
to be staying at the Stardust and she wanted to scope it out before
they arrived. We start to get fabulous offers in the mail, and then
they announce that the Stardust is going to become dust.
Anyway, on to my queries:
1. Are there any $0.25 NSUD triple plays other than those at the
Barbary Coast? We don't want to cause the demise of that place,
because we do like it.
2. Where is the best place to establish ourselves at the $0.25
level?
We enjoy the triple plays at it seems to smooth out the bankroll
fluctuations. And as out-of-towners we prefer the free rooms,
tourney invites, and such for comp considerations. We will even
lower ourselves to playing 8/5 BP in the right situations. We do not
have to stay on the Strip, as we have enjoyed several stays at the
Orleans, but would prefer not to have to rent a car.
If it wasn't for Jean's book and everybody on this site we would
still be playing $15 blackjack and hoping for a buffet comp. I'm sure
I will start whipping you all with my questions before the trip
actually happens.
Thanks for supplying me with my Vegas fix during the long barrenness
between actual visits.
