Washington VP

At Quest Casino today (near Spokane) I noticed some IGT Jacks or Better
games (5c,25c,#1). Previously I saw only Match Play VP. So I wondered
if the rules up here now allowed regular VP. I asked a player (who
lived 1 year in LV) and he said it was true VP whereas Match Play was
not. So I decided to play. First I checked for any written
explanation on the machine. There isn't any. Then the "Help" screen.
No Help. Then I played. It was a 9/6 game with 300 for SF! Sounds
good to me. I played about 30 minutes and had 2 quads. Then suddenly
a character appears and bumps up 1 pair to 2 pair ... this must be the
genie!

Bottom line. There is no way to identify this game as phony, until the
genie appears. By phony I mean the ER cannot be determined based on
the pay schedule. That's my understanding anyway.

I wish there was some way to determine the ER. I could not tell the
difference between regular 9/6JB until the genie appeared.

I've seen those machines outside of the casino. They are set up like
LV Game Kings, the Help button should be on the bottom of the screen
with the deal, draw and other buttons. The genie explanation is the
second help screen. You are correct that the EV cannot be determined
based on the pay schedule, it gets a lottery scratch-ticket and
displays the result in the game.

The words "Game King" do not appear on the machines in the Quest Casino
outside Spokane ... only the words Jacks or Better. There are also
machines with the words Bonus Poker. Both are IGT machines. You are
correct the genie has a Help screen explanation, although at Quest it's
the third help screen. So I was wrong to say the genie is not
mentioned ... it is. Do these sound like the same machines you saw?

They are.

Many machines that are on the Game King platform (including all 3- 5-
10- 50- and 100-play and other IGT games) don't necessarily say "Game
King". The explanation is always on the 3rd help screen (this screen
doesn't exist when there is no Genie).
