Washington state makes internet gambling a felony

The state of Washington legislature has passed and the
Governor has signed a bill that prohibits operating or
participating in internet gambling.

The penalty for knowingly engaging in such illegal
transmission or receipt is a Class C felony

I know everyone agrees here, this bill is stupid. What they will
probably do is grab some high school student who is gambling on line.
Then they will seize his folks house and break them. Of course the
out of the country gambling site will not be touched.

In many cases law makers rip the people even when passing laws that
people like. I have been watching the gambling interests in my
state; Pennsylvania. It was a long road to pass casino gaming here.
The law makers passed a limited amount of casinos allowing 60,000
slots. So we will have enough gaming places in each area to fill the
joints with customers but not enough joints to create any competition
in order to give the player a fair play for their money. I doubt we
will even see 7/5 JOB.

The tax profits are for property tax reductions to people. But wait,
there is zillions of $$ these few casinos are going to make. We gotta
build a new place for the Pittsburgh Penguins to play. How about the
casinos pay for this. And what about redevelopement of the less nice
places in the county. Oh we'll let the casinos pay. It just scalds me
at the folks who come out of the woodwork when they see $$ that they
can grab for their pet projects. So what I saw is lots of people
against gaming and now everyone wants to spend the taxes that they
hope to get by limiting competition and skinning the players. In
Vegas I feel like a sheep. I go every few months and they shear me
for a few $$. I'll get skinned in Pa., I'm afraid.

By the way, rumors are the Penguins either get help from Pennsylvania
or they will move. They may go to Vegas. Ain't that something?

Cheers....Jeep
