New Jersey? Crooked? Nah!

New Jersey, in particular Hudson County, has a time honored tradition of
graft, starting with the infamous Mayor Haig and continuining through Mayor
McCann who tried to run again after serving a prison sentence (unlike the
D.C. Mayor, McCann didn't succeed). As a long-time resident of Hudson
County, having watched over the years as Jersey City Mayors and their
cronies, particularly in the Library, a long-time resting spot for such
nepotistic assignments spent public money on such things as hookers (oh, was
it massage parlors?) nothing surprises me any more.

Hey, you don't have to go too far from the casinos to find corruption. Almost every mayor of Atlantic City since about 1930 has left office in handcuffs. Jim Whelan recently finished three terms, and I've heard him brag in public how he did it without getting arrested. That really is an accomplishment for a mayor of Atlantic City.
Yes, the state is corrupt from the tiny towns on up.
Remember the line in the Traveling Wilburys song: "In Jersey everything's legal, as long as you don't get caught."

PS - I do believe the AC casinos ARE honest, which is rare for NJ

As in any other locale. The big difference is that New Jersey DOES catch
more of them proportionately than other places and it makes a bigger deal
out of doing it.
