Just a couple of short months ago, a former poster started putting up an
extensive series of notices about everything being crooked in the Atlantic
City casinos because “the mob fixed everything in New Jersey.” Virtually
no
one except one poster dared disagree and demand any semblance of evidence.

One small state. Two Senators. One (John Corzine) paid $65,000,000 to get a
job that pays $160,000 a year (plus "bennies"). The other (Bob "the Torch"
Torricelli) sold his voting rights for some suits and a Rolex watch. Then,
when it was clear that he was gonna get his butt whipped in the election
(even Joisey voters have SOME things they can't stomach), decided that he
didn't want to play anymore and went home. The Dons sniffed around and found
that they still had an old soldier who could be recycled (Frank Lautenberg
apparently only LOOKED dead) to replace the Torch. The Counsel (sorry, I mean
the New Jersey Supreme Court) voted that the laws on the books which
prohibited this last minute switch didn't apply here because it was near to
Lautenberg's Daughter's birthday (or something). Everything hunky dory. AC
boys relax.

New Jersey? Crooked? Nah!

New Jersey? Crooked? Nah!

Some states prosecute and publicize. Most other states like Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Nevada just keep re-electing the crooks. The prevailing ideology in a place like Louisiana or Illinois, for example, is if there’s no big whoop, no one will think anything is wrong. At least in New Jersey, the citizens know within 2 or 3 years. In other states, it takes 15 or 25 to figure out what went down for all those years before, when nobody said anything about anything.
