warning - Harrahs N.O. points vanishing

We had a fantastic trip to Harrah's New Orleans. The people are wonderful,
restaurants fantastic. I recommend Commander's Palace highly. If you haven't
been to N.O. you should go - the people are great and they need the tourists.

But watch out for vanishing points at Harrah's casino.

WARNING - I had about 8000+ BASE points vanish! This was on a multiplay VP
machine in the high roller area. This is the second trip where I had a
significant amount of points vanish. I met another player who also had points
vanish. We think that if you let points accumulate on the machine, somewhere
around 6000, 7000 or more points, they may vanish. So if you play, pull your
card in and out every 1000 points to make sure they register. Also keep track
of your points.
When my points vanished I called over slot personnel who were able to
determine I had a 2 hour gap and missing points, and they will do a hand adjustment
if they fail to show up. The problem is -- they may not accurately figure
out how many points I ran up, because I am a fast player.

Otherwise I recommend N.O. Harrah's highly.

This has been an issue for many years at various Harrahs properties
(and discussed a couple times on the Harrahs Yahoo Group). The
buffers in the Bally's system card readers frequently get "full" (for
lack of a better term) and will timeout when you pull the card if
you've accumulated too many points in one session without pulling.
The points are supposed to dump into the main server from the card
reader but they've been known to disappear....sometimes with as
little as 500 base points (at the old HET Tunica) earned. Harrahs
has since upgraded most of the systems (some HET properties still
have old systems which have other bugs besides disappearing
points.... but I won't get into that on a public forum).

The solution is straight forward. Simply pull your card after about
every 500 base points earned if you want to be certain you don't lose
anything into cyberspace.
