warning - check your credit card receipts

In general, obviously everyone should check their credit card receipts each
month to make sure all bills are correct. But also be on the lookout for
erroneous charges from Vegas casino hotels.

For the last 5 months I have had an error on every bill! One was Wynn, 1
Caesars, 2 Paris/Ballys, and one Aladdin! Showing errors are equal
opportunity. It does seem like the error rate has gone way up in Vegas, because I only
remember 1 or 2 other errors in the last 6 years I've lived here!

Some of the problems:
Caesars - when I checked in for 1 room, they thought my husband also had a
2nd room. We got 1 room and checked out with 0 balance (free rooms,
naturally), but didn't check his "folio" on the room. They charged him as though he
had to pay for part of a room....or something like that. Now I check both our
names and folios when I check out! Getting a Zero Statement when you check
out isn't enough to avoid errors.

Aladdin - I don't know - they said something like a charge for a fax (didn't
use) and some other charge - total $24.

Paris - some food charge that should have been comped showed up.

Paris - weird charge supposedly for a room I had cancelled, but the date was
for a night that hadn't even happened yet! And I never had booked a room on
either the date of the charge or the future date. I didn't stay at Paris on
that date either. Also I'm 7* with free rooms! I think maybe a host
erroneously booked a wrong night (like the same day in the wrong month)? perhaps?
Unknown.

If this happens to you - dispute charge with credit card company. Call the
hotel and ask for accounts receivable, or the front desk (or both!). Keep
checking and calling if the credit fails to appear after about 10 days.

Finaly comment - this is annoying!!!

When the Red Rock first opened we received a notice for two days comped and we made reservations. Unfortunately we had to cancel but they had taken our credit card number.

A month after we should have been staying there we received a credit card bill for eighty-five dollars charged to one of their restaurants. We called our credit card company and they issued another card immediately and the charges were removed.

I often wonder if we had made that trip would we have caught that charge and would the credit card company believed that we had not charged it?

Your card issuer won't 'not believe you', they will ask you to fill out an
affidavit. Worst case scenario they have to pull a copy of the charge slip
(with your signature), no charge slip = no charge.

It seems to be happening more and more every where. Just last month I
had two different places add extra tip charges to my credit cards.

One was Harrah's in Kansas City. We ate the buffet (2-4-1)& left a very
nice tip in cash. I got my CC stattement and they had added another
$5.00 in tip. We ended up paying more in tip than we did for the meal!

Always complain, IN WRITING, to both the credit card company and
casino management. Inexperienced servers think they can get away with
adding a tip to a charge. There isn't a restaurant manager worth
their salt who won't fire such an employee on the spot after the
second reported incident.

I had that happen once. Every time I leave a cash tip I now write in
the tip spot on the charge slip "cash" and re-write the total before I
sign it. That way, nobody can write anything else in there.

Better yet, did the Red Rock ever say what they did with an obviously criminal employee?
