A few years ago wife hit for 2500$ at an Indian casino in Farmington New
Mexico. She did not have her government issued social security card . She
did
have drivers license and her passport with the social security number on
it.
They would not take any social security info without the official card.
They
would not take my social security card which I did have with me. After
about
an hours wait they gave her a W2G but only paid her 60% of the win value ,
the rest being withheld for taxes.
Sounds to me that if they could not take any social security information
without the card that they shouldn't be able to hold money for taxes to a social
security number that they could verify or justify either. If they thought
that you were trying to fraud or scam them, why would they credit "someone" with
a tax payment? I wish that a casino would credit my tax contributions
incorrectly.
