W2g / SS Card

All six times I would pull her card, hand the attendent my card,

driver license and SS card.

While I always play on my card, I NEVER carry my SS card. Memorize
the number and give them a credit card instead. This is enough to
prove who you are. SS card is easy identity theft. I have no problem
getting 100% cash payout on each jackpot, even my lone Vegas w2g at
the Freemont on Pick'Em downtown. After the first jackpot in each
casino, I just needed the drivers license and the jackpot was paid and
w2g given in minutes.

Hi Dipy,

I agree that, due to the potential for identity theft, that it is
fraught with peril to carry your SS Card.

In IL, SS #'s are no longer recorded on Driver's Licenses for this
reason. However medical insurance ID cards, and Medicare cards do
usually carry this pertinent information. Many people are loathe to
leave the house w/o these cards, lest they have an accident or
sudden illness, and are refused hospital admittance. This can
present a dilemma to many prudent individuals.

I will tell you, that contrary to your experience, the last TWO
times that I had a WG2 event (the latest being June, 2004) PROOF of
my SS# was required before they would pay the jackpot. TELLING them
my SS # cut no slack. They demanded documented proof. Fortunately,
I always carry an insurance card, which contains my SS #. I was
able to get the card from the safe deposit box, where I always keep
it, along with my DL, and 95% of my bankroll. The "Slot Ambassador"
told me unequivocably that they would not pay the jackpot unless I
was able to produce this documentation. BTW, this was at the
Peppermill, in Reno. The previous time, a few months earlier, was
at the El Cortez, in LV. In both cases they said that they needed
to make a photocopy of the card containing my SS #.

Since you and some others have had very different experiences, I can
only surmise that the situation depends on which casino you are
playing in, and which personnel attends to the payoff.

to make a photocopy of the card containing my SS #.

only surmise that the situation depends on which casino you are
playing in, and which personnel attends to the payoff.

Did you offer them a credit card? That and a valid driver's license
is usually just as good. If nothing else, they can do a credit check
using the memorized SSN and check for the given credit card.

My SSN is not on any card in my wallet (Driver's license, Insurance
card) as you can ask in most states and companies for a different
nubmer, because of the obvious identity theft problem going around
with the number poses. Most of my w2g's were at the 3 indian casinos
north of Topeka.

With the exception of an odd PKM royal, I now try to avoid > $1200
jackpots anyway. I do keep a daily journal anyway. A Safety deposit
box is a good place for the SSN.

Slot Ambassador? I need to visit the embassy;-) In all the times I have
had W2Gs I have never been required to show SS card. Mandalay, Coast,
Harrah's and others have been satisfied with DL.

Some casino that I was playing in (I think it was the Pepp) named
their slot personnel "Slot Ambassadors". I'm not sure from where
I dredged that particular appelation; it just seemed appropo at the
moment.

Was it during the time that your SS# was still on

your IL Driver's License? I was able to use my IL DL back in
those days also. O/W. I'll just have to assume that they were
picking on me, and refuse to produce the SS# if I EVER GET
another WG2. The way things have gone for me lately, I'll be
more than thrilled to see a $1,000 RF.

One of the advantages of being a low roller and only playing quarter
machines is not having to produce a social security card for proof,
when I renew my drivers license they always punch a hole in the old
one and give it back, so when I visit a casino I connect the old
drivers license to my slot card and when I am asked for my slot card by
a casino employee, the photo identifcation is with it,and don't have to
worry about losing my current DL. Also when you renew your passport
they punch holes in the old one and give back to you, and it could be
used for identification purposes,I didn't see my SSN in my passport?
I have a miltary retired ID that I carry and it has my social security
number on it, so I keep in a secure pocket or leave it home.
