No corp is going to do that or even be able to. Shareholders would
kill them if kept that much on a wall instead of paying as dividend.
And SHOULD kill them

I'd settle for the $50 mil in risk free annual
interest $1 bil would generate. Sigh. Probably
the reason no one will ever display a $billion.
The bean counters would have spasms. Applogies
to all bean counters.

No question, this was bunk from the get-go. One has to wonder if bl
was testing the waters in advance of April 1.
If I read correctly, MGM paid $7 bil for MB. A $1 bil wall hardly
stands up against the Bellagio fountains. I don't think it would draw
the requisite return.

Whoa. Talk about serious iron. If you make a paltry 5%, a years INTEREST on a billion is 50 million dollars. Pretty pricey display.

Sorry if I misled anyone! That was not my rumor. It was just something that I saw on the
internet. And, you always believe everything you see on the internet, right? <grin>
But, I, too, like a lot here, regret not having seen the "earlier days". But looking at the two
walls at the Horseshoe in Shreveport last week (the one made up with $1,000,000 in
Bennies, and the other wall with all sorts of memorabilia), Jack Binion must have been
some guy. Too bad many of his collectibles have been auctioned off or "vanished". At
least Harrah's, for now, has preserved some of them.
