vpFREE2 New "Feature", the Rankings

So what is going on with this new ranking system at
vpFRREE2? I can't find any listing of ranking criteria
or who is doing the grading?

I too would like to know the basis for the rankings. I asked them about it on their "Contact Us" page last week, but haven't received a response. Maybe an explanation of the rankings is on the "how to use this site" page, but that has been down for awhile.

For anyone who hasn't seen these, here are the vpFREE2 Las Vegas casino rankings: http://www.vpfree2.com/casinos/rankings/by_region/las-vegas

They also have rankings by state, region and all casinos.

The new ranking system is quite interesting. I was just looking at the Casino Fandango Carson City website where they state they have:
•Over 1,800 99%+ Video Poker Games
•100%+ Payback Video Poker Penny Progressives

Sounds pretty good? I see the ranking for the Fandango is #228 putting them in the bottom half of the overall rankings.

Thanks ms. vpFREE3, because I am amused with anyone trying to rank any grouping of casinos. I have exclusively played in Laughlin for the last 40 months and wonder how Aquarius can be rated #1, even on the raw VP offerings/slot card/promo level. I can't remember the last time there was an AQ promotion of any kind paired with VP that was open to the average Joe (or Jane).

I really scratch my head when the rankings have Edgewater near the top and Colorado Belle near the bottom out of the Laughlin casinos. They are both owned by Marnell-Sher, both use the Access slot card, both have about the same VP inventory and usually have similar promotions and drawings. The marketing offers allow booking at either casino and the food coupons can be used in either house.

I did see that this new Rankings link in the vpFREE2 header takes the place of the Forums link, which took you to vpFREE.

I dunno why they list it as penny's, because you have to play 100 pennies to get the full-pay, which is equivalent to making it a 20c machine...

You can get to the Forums Link through the Tools pull down menu.

If I had to guess, the rankings are probably based on how many times the
casino was accessed during the month. If you check the "More..." for a
particular casino you will see the ranking by month. This would also
explain why there are so many ties at the bottom of the list of 411 casinos.

If anybody finds out more let us know.

Well, thank you now...connoisseur of VP. I am not sure what "connoisseur" means? Is connoisseur like "King of the Hill" or can anyone be a connoisseur? Can all of us strive to be connoisseurs, of say Video Poker?

Getting to the point that "Tool" link is a bit more active since the last time I clicked it on vpFREE2. That Glossary link takes you to a lot terms and acronyms that were first summarized on vpFREE.

I had to see if the acronym "FITR" was included. It actually was on the seventh page in the Glossary. Kudos to vpFREE2.

I am a bit foggy, but I do believe the phrase "Fun In The Room" was coined first by Jean Scott. I don't know if it ever made it in to her published writings? It might have blossomed in the earlier days of vpFREE.

It might not be as widely known as the acronym NSUD, which is attributed to Skip Hughes, but could be on the par with APDW. It is something to be proud of when considering life's milestones...FITR!

Yes, I did coin that phrase, back in the beginning days of Skip's VP forum, when there were just a few of us and it was more like family and we discussed more personal subjects. I don't remember using it in any of my books - but then I can't remember what I had for dinner last night.

I haven't used the phrase "in public," I guess, for a number of years. However that doesn't mean I don't still consider it a very important casino-hotel activity, one with a definitely positive EV!
