I noticed they have now downgraded all the aces/faces games. For
those who don't think VPfree impacts casino decisions here is yet
another example. The games weren't even that good. All the paybacks
were worse than 9/6 JOB which can be found in many places on the
strip. The games were all negative (except on 10x point days which
now seem to have disappeared as well). They were only a couple tenth
of a percent better than BP which they still have and which is
probably "played" at a higher return than any of these games. So, these games get mentioned on VPFree and they are immediately
downgraded. Come on folks, wise up. Posting any game on VPFree
increases the probability the game will be taken away. That benefits
no one.
A couple of thoughts come to mind. The first one is that the Sunshine
Policy (FAQ 59 et seq)is unrealistic. The reason it exists is to
ensure the relevance of VPFree by attracting discussion. If the
inventory is a total mystery, then there's really no need for a board.
The board is built around for the most part, discussing the casino's
inventory of VP games.
The flaw in that thought is that while VPFree would like to narrowcast
itself to its target audience (recreational players, Vegas tourists,
etc), the reality is that there are many who just lurk here who can
take that information and completely burn it down. The problem is most
posters here don't have the judgment, or in a couple of extreme cases,
don't even care to discuss what's appropriate here, and what isn't.
When they err in not realizing how good a certain play is,
particularly in Vegas, it gets burned down fast. Consider LVA, even
one of the co-owners of the site told me some time ago, if you want to
get a play burned down fast, just tell Anthony Curtis.
The other issue is that we all know many casinos like to offer good
games because they feel there is an illusion of beatability, and this
is true for the most part, the problem is in the case of the
professional who walks through their doors, there's no illusion at
all. VPFree doesn't help at all in maintaining that illusion. Since
VPFree probably costs me $15K or so a year because of misjudgment as
to what constitutes a mistake, I might as well participate here! At
least I get some value out of that lol...
My final thought is that many slot operations folk, while many are
nice people they are not nearly as sharp, or as well paid, as their
table games counterparts, they have a certain paranoia regarding
VPFree. This paranoia to a certain extent is justified. The average
VPFree poster is likely to beat theo on most games long run. Casinos
don't like getting beat. I can certainly understand that, I don't like
getting beat either.
Consider the Tuscany, this is a place which I'd never consider
playing, but is popular with many here. I think what happened is that
on the last promotion, the 75 minute long 2x Jackpot fiasco, they got
totally smoked, I mean stupid unlucky. I'd say 2/3 of the players hit
within the first third or first half of the jackpot cycle (average
4000 hands). The $70K or so the casino claims they lost, and it's a
small casino, it needs to be made up for somehow. So, there you
go...I'm not saying the thinking is correct, but that's the mindset.
