When I go to Chinatown (in Los Angeles), I'm called a 'round-eye.' No big
deal. I just eat my dim sum and have a nice lunch.
I know lots of you would like to move on to VP comments--but indulge me.
Here in LA -- we are very diverse. One of the most common nicknames for the
minority is "whites." It is common to be out to lunch and hear people say--"oh,
that is an ugly name--too white." I have never heard the white folks crying
about
being identified by color---even if they refer to them as whitebread or
rednecks. I know some we're shocked at the Mayor of N'Awlins referring to his
city
as chocolate. But obviously he saw nothing PC wrong with that reference.
Interesting who we jump all over as far as PC is concerned.
