[vpFREE] Re: Check out Casino smoke ruling / Just pass the ban

You stated:

"I assure you that if a non-smoking casino all of a sudden put in a
10% play on dollars, smokers would go there. They would realize

that

the sacrifice they are making to take part in this play is that

they

can't smoke."

If a non-smoker goes into a smoking casino and thereby is forced to
breathe smoke, their health IS put at risk.

True. I never said it wasn't.

If smokers go into a non-
smoking casino they are NOT put at any health risk.

True again. I never said they were.

Hence, the
ONLY "sacrifice" they are making impacts them and them alone.

Ah, I see I didn't make myself clear as to what "sacrifices" were
being made.

When a non-smoker chooses to go to a smoking venue instead of a non-
smoking venue because it is either closer or has better plays, they
are saying that the convenience of location or better plays are more
important to them them playing in a smoke-free establishment. So
there are willingly sacrificing their health for these plays or a
shorter trip. (Now as I've said in other posts, I agree that there
are no truly valid non-smoking options here right now. We need to
have non-smoking venues. We should fight to get non-smoking venues,
but we shouldn't fight to have ONLY non-smoking venues.)

When a smoker chooses to go to a non-smoking venue instead of a
smoking venue because of a strong play, they are saying that the play
is more important to them then being able to smoke while playing. So
they willingly sacrifice the pleasure of smoking while playing and
also sacrifice EV by not playing at those moments that they have to
leave to grab a smoke.

I was not making any implications that one sacrifice was greater or
more difficult or more important than the other. I was just stating
that in the case of the smoker, he is aware that his choice involves
a sacrifice and just accepts it (case in point: what Mickey ran into
in Montana); he does not try to turn the casino into a smoking
venue. But smoking ban proposers, instead of being happy with places
for everyone, are trying to force EVERY place to accomodate them and
only them.
