vpFREE Polls

I consider vpFREE Polls to be very informative and very
important. I would really, really, really like to see EVERYONE
vote in EVERY poll. Increased participation would make the polls
even more meaningful.

I haven't really voted in the polls because I still don't
understand why we do them and why they are "very important." Yes,
the database information and strategies are important to players,
but why the polls? What are they used for? What purpose do they
serve? Just curiosity? Playful exercise?

When I look at the open and closed vpFREE Polls, their worth is self
evident and intuitive to me. But since beauty is in the eyes of the
beholder, I'll give my views on their value and importance.

Some of the polls are "Decision making polls", generally seeking
majority approval of vpFREE practices, current or potential. I
believe that their value is definitely intuitive and self evident.

The rest are "Informational polls" which help define characteristics,
habits and preferences of vpFREE members and what makes them tick.
In the fight to save advantage VP, knowing ourselves should be a
first priority, and I believe that vpFREE polls have been and can
continue to be an invaluable resource in this battle. The results
of these polls also enable us to measure our own actions and opinions
against those of others, and to realize when and how we deviate from
average behavior.

In both types of polls, the greater the participation, the greater
their value.

Or is the information compiled somehow to use in research, reports,
casino consulting, letters to casinos, or editors, or???

All of the poll results are available for any of the above, but the
only one I identify with to date would be "research".

I think if people understand the value or purpose we may
get more voters.

In addition to the above, I'll offer one additional reason:

Vote in ALL of the polls and thereby add to the vpFREE
Administrator's happiness.

Again, I can understand the value of a poll if we are voting on an

issue regarding policies of vpFREE or electing a HOF member, etc., but I
would personally rather see the poll questions discussed as topics
rather than buried away in some poll. That offers little insight as to
why a person feels the way they do and offers no advice for anyone. Just
my opinion. Maybe we should take a poll on polls?
