It is purely consumers choice where and what to buy. Do we service our
cars only at dealership because otherwise it will void car warranty??
It is illegal for manufacturer to void the warranty if other than OEM
consumables were used.
Our refilled/remanufactured cartridges do not void the warranty!!!
As the matter of fact as I mentioned before, HP is working on
developing the cartridges that CAN and WILL be refilled and they will
market it as such.

Please check the information you post before posting it...

Be careful what you wish for, you're liable to get it........
From the Compaq Users Guide, Page 12--Chapter 2........Quoting exactly as
printed

Preserving print cartridges
To ensure the longest life from your print cartridge and optimum performance
from your printer:
* Keep a new print cartridge in its packaging until you are ready to install
it.

*Do not remove a print cartridge from the printer except to replace, clean or
store it in an air-tight container. The print cartridge will not print
correctly if removed from the printer and left exposed for an extended period of
time.

*If a print cartridge runs out of ink, leave the empty cartridge in the
printer until you are ready to replace it. Printing with one of the print cartridge
carriers empty may cause printer problems.

***Compaq's printer warranty does not cover repair of failures or damage
caused by a refilled cartridge. Compaq does not recommend use of refilled
cartridges. Refilling cartridges can affect print quality and cause damage to the
printer. For best results, use Compaq recommended supplies.

There you are, straight from a manufacturer. Can I assume that this is an
industry wide disclaimer?

By the way, automobile warranties & printer warranties are SLIGHTLY
different.

CF, my appology for not replying faster, I do not work after 3PM on
on Saturday and I was off on Sunday, therefore was not able to read
that you want an answer in 24 hours.

I check my facts before I state something. The fact is: Using refilled
cartridge in the printer does not void warranty. Not sure why you are
worried about compaq warranty, the brand does not exist for longer
period than warranty will cover. But you are correct, that warranty
will not cover damages caused by refilled cartridge across all
manufacturers. What you missed is the fact that Cartridge World
provides 100% guarantee on our products and in case of cartridge
causing printer failure (Which never happened in any of the cartridge
world stores), we will pay for equipment repair and or replacement as
long as customer provides us with written statement from an authorised
repair center stating that failure was caused by the cartridge. Any
other failures will be covered by original manufacturers warranty.

Now as far as facts:
Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act available at
http://assembler.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode15/usc_sup_01_15_10_50.html
The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 states that, in the United
States at least, the warranty cannot be voided because of the use of
aftermarket products. This is commonly known as the Act's "anti-tying"
provision because it prevents a manufacturer from "tying" its warranty
to the use of specific products. Section 2302(c) of the Magnuson-Moss
Warranty Act reads:

"No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or
implied warranty of such product on the consumer''s using, in
connection with such product, any article or service (other than
article or service provided without charge under the terms of the
warranty) which is identified by brand, trade, or corporate name."

This means the OEM cannot, as a condition of the warranty, require the
use of a certain brand of cartridge. Note that exceptions can be made
to this only if the government decides "the warranted product will
function properly only if the article or service so identified is used
in connection with the warranted product, and the Commission finds
that such a waiver is in the public interest." Currently, no printer
products appear to be included in this list, and any new applications
must undergo review and public comment.

I can provide you with the links to most of the printer manufacturers
warranty policies and non of them will state that refilled cartridge
voids warranty!

Best regards,
Yan
