From "More Frugal Gambling" page 120:
"... the internet, where there's an abundance of
information about the changing world of video poker. The
best site, by far, is Skip Hughes' www.vphomepage.com, a
VP gold mine."
This statement is astonishing to me.
I like "vpfree" better than "www.vphomepage.com" but
consider both to be very good sites. I also believe that
informed, objective observers would prefer "vpfree" and
most certainly wouldn't rate "www.vphomepage.com" the
"best site by far".
Highly recommending "www.vphomepage.com" while giving
"vpfree" only one token mention (with a url that points to
a completely unrelated web site) raises serious questions
in my mind concerning Jean Scott's credibility, objectivity
and frugality. It's also interesting that she neglects to
mention anywhere that "www.vphomepage.com" isn't free and
costs at least $55 a year.
I attribute Jean's assessment to an inexplicable lack of
knowledge about "vpfree" (where she's an active member) or
to her business relationship with "www.vphomepage.com".
Whatever the reason, her exclusive recommendation of a fee
based service, when there's a better or comparable free
alternative, is very unfrugal and a disservice to her
readers.
