vpfree Admin Announces New Job---Linda Boyds Flack

THIS IS JUST NOT TRUE, Publishers weekly will review any published
book, their only condition for review is that self-published books have

poker book at all is surprising."<<<

I guess to someone that limits their reading to video poker strategy
cards and casino promotional mailings, Publishers Weekly would
seem "High Brow".

Its nice that the vpfree_admin has taken on the additional title of
Linda Boyd's Flack. I just hope Bob, Jean, Dan et al don't get too
jealous.

at least 2,000 in the first printing. Not a big hurdle. No seal of approval is implied. vp_admin wrote:

How & when can I get a copy of this book so I can do a REAL review

way it'll be good for the side of truth. A good book review and it'll
piss off the current set of book-writing gurus. A bad one and the
Undeniable Truth lives on as the best video poker book ever.

Very good questions, particularly the "how". My local Borders, one of
their flagship stores, where National authors speak at frequently,
carries the following guru books:

Books by Jean Scott zero copies*
Books by Bob Dancer zero copies
Books by Dan Paymar zero copies

(*perhaps they had a spike in demand, and sold-out, I know at one
time they did have a copy of Jean's book)

This book might be too "high brow" for the national book chains,
perhaps you should check University Bookstores or better yet, maybe
Harry will sell you one of his, since I thought he said he was
stocking -up on the book. If all those fail, perhaps the trunk of
Linda's car?

Please post a copy of the review here if you ever get a copy of the
book.

You can get a review copy when you have a substantial
professional presence in the area under consideration.

I guess that lets Mr. 'Singer' out.

I probably can get a copy from my publisher since the vpFREE post
says it's available there. When I read it I'll do a professional no-
bull review and link to it---to the chagrin and envy of
meldrone.......(although he'll a;sp be the first to read it!)

I just looked up tha PUBKISHER's WEEKLY review to get a flavor of
what I'm going to see:
"From Publishers Weekly
Former math teacher Boyd's guide to winning bucketfuls of change is
not for the casual casino-goer: readers will come across sentences
like "the mathematically correct way to play any dealt hand is based
on the stated payout table in conjunction with statistical
probabilities"; be required to keep straight variances, expected
returns and expected values (some are percentages; some are currency
equivalents); and learn how to read seemingly cryptic charts before
sinking their teeth into the meat of Boyd's strategies. But, for the
left-brained set, Boyd's book is a boon: she excels in breaking down
which hands to play, which types of video poker games offer better
chances of payouts for large and small bankrolls, betting strategies
and the different types of casinos and games readers can expect to
find across the country. Readers who already know their way around a
Harrah's will want to skip the sections dealing with gambling
addiction, budgets and casino etiquette and cut to the discreetly
pocketable payout charts and the approximately 40 pages Boyd
dedicates to strategy. Savvy video poker players could win back the
cover price in a night."

This seemed curiously similar to the type of numerical boredom Dan
Paymar always puts out. Then I looked back and saw there was a
Saturday Night Special if you ordered both Linda's & Dan's books
TOGETHER! But I'll wait until I read it. Linda has come on and said
it not the usual type rhetoric as put out by the other gurus and hers
is quite different. Comments like that get me interested. While the
others who write books like she does will publicly schmooze over it
while privately hoping for her ultimate demise because her sales will
take $$ out of THEIR pockets, she'll get a fair shake with me.
