I have Video Poker for Winners, Frugal Video Poker, and Optimal Video Poker. I like all
three, and use each regularly for different purposes. (I haven't tried Wolf yet, but I"m
weakening and may do so soon). I have recommended each of these programs to others,
depending on what they wanted to emphasize.
There are several things that give Optimal VP a solid place in my software library, two of
which I mention here. The first - unparalleled customer service. A problem developed that
was not fatal, but irritating (I suspect a file got corrupted during a major OS re-
installation). I e-mailed Dan Paymar, the software developer, late yesterday morning.
Shortly thereafter I got a reply with a preliminary suggestion of a possible fix, and the
suggestion that if that didn't work, I might send the probably corrupted. I immediately
tried the quick and dirty fix - didn't work. I sent the corrupted file to Dan, and within an
hour I got a reply telling me he'd look at it to see what happened - and in the meantime,
he attached a fresh copy of the complete program package for me. Total time from
initiallly sending the problem description to running a totally working version of the
program - less than six hours! I can't remember enjoying such quick, convenient, and
courteous "fix" on any other product of any kind in recent years. Thanks, Dan.
The second quality may not be relevant to most of you, but Mac users ma well want to
consider it - OpVP is available on both Windows and Mac OS X platforms. It's the only
major VP software that runs directly under the more reliable and friendly Mac platform,
and it runs like a charm under that OS. I've used the Windows version as well, and it is
fine, but the differences in speed and ease of use between the two platforms are obvious.
