VP Trainer needed

Hello everyone. I am trying to decide which VP trainer to buy and figured this would be a good place to ask.

I have downloaded Bob Dancers poduct (winners ???) and it seems pretty good, but thought I would see if there is something better.

Since the correct play in any situation is a math problem, I assume all of the top products will give you the same correct play, it is what else you get that sets them apart.

One thing I want to be sure of in a product is that I will be able to install it on all of my home computers without a hassle.

Any extras that come with a product that you know about would be helpful.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

My first trainer was WinPoker and it worked fine but it was on a floppy disk and my previous computer had no floppy drive. I then bought Bob Damron's product since it had more games on it. It was ok but I didn't like that fact that it can't be used full screen. Now with my latest computer with Windows 7 it functions poorly. With the 3,5,10 play the lettering doesn't fit. The STP screen has a blank area like a backwards 6 in the lower left. The analyze hands function doesn't display properly in any of the games so you cant use it. I can't recommend this software at all.

Thanks Geo

After writing this I realized I should be looking for a stand alone product that I could use where I don't have internet service. I notice every time I pick a new game with the Dancer free trial version, it appears to download new pay tables.

It has been fairly difficult to get complete information on these things.

I am running XP BTW.

I like Masque Casino Game Pak, but it's hard to find

I have one, but I haven't used it since I replaced my Windows 98 computer. The box says "Finalist Software Publishers Assoc Best Strategy Program 1993". I'll be glad to mail the CD to anyone who wants it (e-mail me privately). Once Winpoker came out I stopped using masque, and with my new Windows 7 I prefer VPW. We've come a long way since 1993.

All the Masque VP software is chart based rather than based on a calculation of all the possible holds thus is not 100% accurate. Software that calculated all 32 possible holds was around as early as 1990-Stanford Wong Video Poker. SWVP could run on as little as an "086" (I did that at work.) You could set pay tables for different values for various three of a kinds (Nevada Bonus, High Fives, etc.). It was clunky to use but I was able to compile a strategy chart for 10-7DB including progressive strike numbers from it (That game was available in the Chicago Area from about 1995-2006.). It could not handle kickers however and also the straight and flush had to be the same all deuces wild games thus NSUD was a no go. Also limited to one joker. You needed separate software (Stanford Wong VPEXACT-1991. This could handle different flush/straight values.) to get accurate EV for games and that took 2 hrs and 10 min on a 386/66. VPEXACT could be used on Windows XP Pro in dos mode.

Frugal Video Poker: http://www.wolfvideopoker.com/FVP.htm

it's free, so there are no headaches with copy protection putting it
on multiple machines. while the graphics are primitive compared to
Video Poker for Winners, the feature set is comparable in most ways
and superior in some.

i own both programs (i paid for FVP before the free release), and i
use FVP more often than VPW because of its support for customized
strategy charts.

and, well... free.

cheers,

five
