VP Tournament Strategies

In a DDB Tournament, what Strategies (from the Normal
or Perfect Play suggested by WinPoker and others) need
to be changed in order to have better odds in winning
the event. (Sorry, I'm not sure what the Rules are
yet. Maybe a given total of 800 credits or a time
limit of 20-30 minutes?)

For example, if you get a low pair and another pair of
5-K, are you supposed to just keep the low pair? Or if
you get a Ah, Jh, 7h, 3h, 5d, do you just keep the Ah
and Jh (for RF) and toss away the 7h and 3h?

From your own experience, what have you done
previously to win in a DDB Tournament?

I don't have specific advice here, just some general advice for use in
tournaments. Since only top scores receive money, one can look at the
paytable and conclude that lower hands have only nominal value whereas
the frequency of hitting big hands are what will win the day.

That would suggest revising the paytable to accentuate the value of
large and medium value hands over the basic 1/2/and 3 bet payoff
hands. Luck obviously plays a significant role in these tournaments.
Improving your odds of hitting the large hands, without sacrificing
too much on the lower hands, would seem to be the strategy called for
here.

However, be advised. On occasion, at least in what I've witnessed in
AC, paytables are adjusted in the tournaments to deemphsize the
largest payouts. The more information you have about the paytables
used the better.
