VP Teams

Hello again, and thanks to all those who've been kind enough to answer my ubiquitous questions! (`; I'm afraid I'll soon run out of them if I keep asking at this rate!

So here's today's big question. How prevalent are VP "teams" (2 or more people who monopolize a VP machine for long periods of time)? Are they common enough to ruin good opportunities for "single" players like myself, or is it very rare to run into these people? Also, do most/many casinos have policies regarding these teams? Good luck to all, and happy gaming!

Jon,

You are a worry-wart, aren't you. The only time you are likely to see
team playing is on a progressive with a really fat jackpot. And it
will be above the 25 cent level. Another case may be a $25 or higher
machine in a casino that has a great promotion going. You don't have
to worry about finding good machines to play in Las Vegas, team
activity or not. There are PLENTY to go around. And, yes, the
casinos frown on team play.

Last time I saw team play was approx six months ago at GVR when a
dollar progressive was approaching $11,000. I wouldn't worry about
running into too many of those situations. You will NOT have a
problem getting on a fullpay machine at a local's casino as long as
you are slightly flexible. Yes, a bank may be full of players but
I've NEVER not been able to find a playable machine.

In the past, there were a number of groups operating on one bankroll.
Today, since there are many fewer opportunities, there are fewer
groups.
They generally played the $1 progressives and there is still one team
that I am aware of. and perhaps 2 or 3 couples who "spell" each other
on quarters but these are in the minority.
There have been reports of 2 people playing a single machine at Fiesta
Rancho, but other than those , as I said, I know of only one or two
other couples who do this.
Meters do not get high enough to devote that much time and effort to
them.
Yesterday I played ona bank of 12 machines which was at a 106%
advantage.
There were 4 pros present, one of which would have been replaced if
the play went long enough. The others played until tired and left.
(including me)
That was last nite. I will check this morning to see if it is still
there, and if so, play it some more.

I chuckle when I hear about vp "pros". I mean, what kind of professional
makes $7 an hour?

The $7.00/hr is the twenty five cent rate. The $25.00 or $50.00 rate
is a little more profitable. Dick M.

In the month of October, my free play and bounce back totalled $1673.
If you figure 40 hours a week, 4 weeks to the month, my "salary" for
that alone was $10.45 per hour, and that is BEFORE I inserted one
coin.
REAL pros earn far far more than $7 per hour.

Based on how much you play, some casinos periodically mail you
coupons that you can take back on a later date and redeem for either
cash or free play on the machines. That's bounce back cash as I
understand it. (As a non-local, however, I have never personally
received such coupons.)
