VP Software Advice Needed

Hi all

I own both Winpoker and Frugal Video Poker, unfortunately early editions. My current computer operating system is Vista with a new upgrade to Windows 7 coming in October. These programs do not work with my new system. Searches at LV Advisor, Jean Scott and for Wolf Gaming have not been successful in finding how to update my disc or purchase a new one.

How do I contact someone who can supply an appropriate version of either or both programs? (Or do you have a better program to recommend?)

Thanks.

This wont be much help....but I have the original winpoker and it works fine on Vista. I just don't remember how loaded it in. (I think I just copied my old folders and downloaded the copied folders to my new computer with Vista, since I have saved games in the folders). It's worth a try.

This might work: when you first install winpoker on vista, do not save it in the default directory, type in another location.

Both run fine in my Vista Home Premium default directory. Winpoker has not had any update that I am aware of since I bought mine about 10 years ago.

Frugal has a couple of updates that should be on Jean's page.

The latest version of Frugal VP is 1.1. Most everyone has been able to install it on Vista, 32-bit version (it is NOT compatible with the
64-bit version). E-mail me privately if you are having trouble doing so and I can send you some possible "fixes."

I'll help you with this.? I went through the same problem with WinPoker when I got 64-bit Vista.? As you may have found with some of your printers, scanners, or programs, which worked correctly with past Windows versions, they may not work with Vista.?

Send an email to support@zamzone.com explaining your situation.

They will look you up in their database.? If they can't find you, you will need to provide a scan of your receipt when you purchased WinPoker.? Yes, I still had my receipt from Jan 2002.??They will also ask for the registration number and disk number.? Once they verify that you are legit, they will send to you a downloadable Vista-compatable?file which will install an updated copy of WinPoker on your computer.?

Problem solved after jumping through a couple of hoops.? Good Luck.

If it's any help, this is from Vista's Help file. XP has this program too.

"Make older programs run in this version of Windows

Most programs written for Windows XP also work in this version of Windows, but some older programs might run poorly or not at all. If a program written for an earlier version of Windows doesn't run correctly, use the Program Compatibility Wizard to change the compatibility settings for the program. To change settings for a program manually, use the individual program's Compatibility tab"

Vista is suppose to run it automatically, but you can also do it yourself. Just search for "compatibility" in the Help section.
