vp secrets "pros/experts" wouldn't want to share

Perhaps, most or all of the vp pros/experts have written books/articles
in the form of "everything you wanted to know to be a successful vp
player".
Somehow, my guess is that there could be this "little secret(s)" that
the vp pros/experts would not want to share to everyone.

IF my guess is RIGHT, what would most likely be in their "little
secrets"?

a) amount of time they work on a machine?
b) timing on changing from one machine to the next?
c) having a pretty good and lucky partner?
d) a special vp strategy that never got published before?
e) what's your guess (if any)?

You can rule out B & D.

For A, if its a positive play, then the longer you are on a machine,
the more money you will make (discounting the fatigue factor).

For C, if you and your partner are both knowledgeable players,
having two players on a positive play would be better. More hands
played, getting to the elusive long-run twice as fast, moral
support, etc.

Foe E, keeping really good plays and/or casino errors (e.g. giving
too many points per dollar) VERY quiet.

IMHO, E would be the most important.

Just my 2c:
The prime unpublished 'secret' is the discovery of a high EV machine
location.

As to your list:

a) nah
b) nah
c) nah

d) MAYBE! I have a feeling some of the strict 'by the book' (to the
4th decimal EV) experts DO occasionally take a flyer, you know, wild
stuff (sarcasm here) like hold a 3RF over high pair.
Some authors have admitted never holding 4 card inside str8s w/ no
deuces in DW for example (something I don't do either).

Also, Mr. Singer admits to hundreds if not thousands of his own
"special plays" where he keeps a lower EV hold on certain type hands.
I am glad that he keeps these to himself generally speaking. He is
wise to focus on dispersing VP money management strategy instead of
the minutae of single hand holds. Also, I appreciate his statement
that he is adept at perfect (or at least 'optimum') strategy and he
conciously chooses to deviate at times, knowing exactly the risk. I
agree wholeheartedly that it's YOUR money, you gamble it how you want.
And besides, nobody's watching.

e) I like to imagine that experts are deep-down creatures of
superstition. Everything from that rabbit's foot they stroke in their
pocket, to the exact routine they repeat before they hit the casino
floor because that's what they did before they won their last big
jackpot. We like to think we are an intelligent subset of the
population, but I'll bet many of us harbor certain neantherdal ritual
mentalities. Ever watch Nomar Garciaparra at bat? Before every single
pitch he has an insanely long ritual. It's a slippery slope to insanity!

That's a very good secret Jim! And everyone thought you only play $1
machines or higher!? :>
I just saw the latest article from Rob S. in some "Slots" magazine and
he kind of admitted "his long time secrets" that he made a lot of
mistakes about 10 years ago including playing for way too long.

I was just wondering if Bob Dancer or Jean Scott had ever lost money
playing vp somewhere around $50,000 or more in a day or two session
and decided not to tell anyone since that's a very "short run" and
they usually win anyways in the "long run"!?

Brad and I don't play high enough to lose that much in one or two sessions, but we have lost well over $10,000 quite a few times. And I have written many times, on Internet forums, Frugal Fridays, etc., about a bad losing session or long losing streaks. All players have them - skilled or not!!! But the advantage player has the reasonable assurance that if he plays long enough he will win in the long term.

I have told our "secret"for years - keep grinding away!

I have seen the extreme from both ends. 3 royals in four hours on
single line and 250,000 hands between royals on single line. If you
play long enough you get to see it all.

This made me think of the recent addition to Dilbert's workplace,
who said "When the snake falls in love with the spaghetti, it's time
to buy a new hat". And, "You look more flustered than a barefuoot
squirrel at a tire store."
