VP Puzzle - Explain this credit discrepancy

It is in your favor. Don't make waves. Probably a key error
by the attendant to clear the machine to hand pay you.

Someone pointed out to me something very strange.

I took a picture of a recent royal flush before and after I was paid. Take a look at the total amount (besides the royal). It increases from 190 to 220.

There is no mistake here, these two pictures are of the same machine and of the same royal. And no, I did not add any credits to the machine. I am positive of that (and why would I anyway?).

You're just lucky you did not point this out to the attendant. The payout could be construed as a combo flush+Royal, which is
a mal-function voiding the pay !

The most likely explanation is that the "before" picutre was snapped while the credits were still accumulating.

credits don't accumulate or count up in the traditional sense when you hit a royal at $1.

when you hit a "taxable event," the machine locks up and the credit meter has 4000 credits (or dollars) added to it all at once.

Absolutely NOT. As the other poster said, a taxable royal's credits do not "accumulate". And in this case, I took the picture about 2 minutes AFTER hitting the royal, while I was waiting for an attendant.

after reading several responses including a private one from a frequent player who has seen this happen before, my conclusion is that the attendant caused this error.

Thinking back, I do vaguely recall him fumbling a bit and pulling out a cheat sheet of codes when he was keying in the payout on the keypad. One would just think that there are some safeguards that would catch this error, but obviously not in this case.

Here is what I picked up that is a lesson for the future. It is a good idea to take a picture before the payoff, IN CASE THE ATTENDANTS ERROR IS NOT IN YOUR FAVOR!

He could have just as easily shorted me instead of adding extra credits by accident. Without a picture it would be hard to detect, and HARDER to PROVE. I have NEVER seen the possibility of this type of error discussed before anywhere. I usually take pictures of my hand pays, but now I will make a point to take them on ALL, taxable or not.

That might not help you. Most casino's have a policy against camera use unless you have it upfront in writing. While most places allow/tolerate camera shots for your own personal photo album, they change colors should you try to use it against them!
