It's true that you do give some EV on certain hands when chasing a royal. In
your example, I'm geussing that you hold A10s in FPDW with a $1660 royal and you
don't with a $1000 royal.
If you don't make any strategy changes, you still get the increased EV for the
prog royal but you don't lose the EV of every other hand. If the change isn't
too big, it might not be a bad way to go. On the other hand, the reason most
people play a progressive is to try and snag a big fat royal.
