VP Pappy on Keno

"Keno was created for people who just can't handle the stress of
winning."

"Admitting that you play Keno, is akin to admitting that you still
read comic books."

"It would take a hundred psychiatrists a hundred years to figure
out why a hundred gamblers play Keno hundreds of times and lose
hundreds of dollars."

"Every time I think that the average casino player is getting
smarter, I notice how many are playing Keno and have to think again."

Hey VP

you have to look back a few years and think this through. Keno was a
laid back game that one could relax in the Keno pit for a few dollars
an hour. I can remember playing Keno at IP; before electronic tracking.
If you got to know a boss or two in pit, a dollar or two bet when they
watched you and 25 cent play other times would net you comp rooms a
meal and free drinks all day. All for 8% house hold, if you played
regular games. Play the specials and you could do better. In those days
a 92% payback could be considered respectable.

Whats wrong with comic books? I like Donald Duck. In fact, I was
looking for comic books last week. Couldn't find any. I thought to
myself; What's this world comming to?

Happy new year.....Jeep.

On the same subject......

The comic Sandy Hackett has a great line for Keno, before there were machines:

"Remember the casino has this huge computer to figure out the Keno numbers, and what do they give you? A black crayon and a little piece of paper."

Cheers!

Caveman keno says it all ... (although Bev and I can get a few good
silly laughs out of it for 5 minutes when we're REALLY toasted

Hi Pappy,

I enjoy your clever little quotes.

Would you believe that there was a column on video keno a couple
of weeks ago, in that newspaper found in some hotel rooms (in which
RS also has a column) proclaiming that video keno was a much better
play, with a higher EV than video poker? Of course he published
some rather convoluted odds to make his point. I was quite amazed
when I read it.

Did anyone else take note of this column? If so, what was your
reaction?

I had pretty much the same response that you had. I believe the person
that wrote that column writes one every week. It has to be hard
comming up with fresh ideas for a game a 2 year old can figure out.
The only time I play keno is on bar top machines when I'm too loaded to
play VP. Personally I do better playing keno than slots. -Russ
