[vp-mail] xvp is it legal to scalp tickets in NV

I have had a lot of years of experience of brokering - okay, scalping - tickets, mostly while living in Indy where I did the race track. However, I have also done some since I move to Vegas, i.e., SuperBowl, Final Four, etc. Almost all of my sales have been to brokers - I figure I'm too old to survive jail!!!

Brokers get around the code/law governing scalping because they sell tickets for face value and the mark-up is a "service charge" for the difficulty of obtaining hard-to-get tickets. And even they have to abide by the local ordinance where they can sell them.

I remember hearing that Bob Dancer was selling show tickets - I think from the MGM - a long time ago and was arrested - not sure where he was - just outside the MGM?? Not sure what his "punishment" was - maybe a fine? I've slept since then so don't remember details.

Like the person who first wrote about this, the "rules" are usually printed on the ticket. And I'm not sure if you can scalp tickets on the sidewalks in Clark County, below or above face value.

There is an added caution if you are selling comped tickets - most casinos take a very dim view of that - and you might get cut off from comps completely, even if not 86'd.

Last night we ate at Via Veneto at the Suncoast (less than average food and
even worse service). We wanted to take advantage of the half-point meal.
Our bill (pre-tax) was about $50. I figured they'd charge my card $25 of
points. Instead, they charged it $25 PLUS tax on the $25. I didn't feel
like complaining to them, so I went to the slot club booth. I told them
that they don't do this at the cafe, but the boothling said, "they do now."
I told them I didn't think it was right that they charge tax on a comp, but
she said it was now company policy to do so. You have been warned!

Thanks Steve. That bites but helps reinforce why I don't patronize
Coast Properties.
