[vp-mail] Losing at VP

But here's an interesting twist to losing...

When playing advantage plays, since the majority of sessions are losers then
mathematically, the sum of winnings from the fewer winnings sessions must be
greater than the sum of loses from the losing sessions.

It's just TOO POSSIBLE that it goes the other way. True, the ODDS GODS
indicate that it should work at in the end but since we're talking about a
pretty small positive percentage it's just as easy to go the other way. (I
do agree 1000% with Ednar about the chance to come even and the all-expense
paid part!!)

We're an excellent example (wonderful). Having played VP for several years
now and for the last 3 ONLY positive games, we're FAR FAR FAR from coming
out positive even just in those 3 years.

We've had many trips where we come home down $2,000 (and we take about 5
trips per year).
But we've NEVER had a trip where we come home up $2,000. In fact, we've
NEVER had a trip where we come home ahead more than $200.

If $200 is the highest positive side that we'll ever see we will NEVER get
positive in the long run simply because there are so few positive $200 vs
the more than often negative $500.

I totally understand the mathematics but I just don't see the reality of
playing positive games leading to a positive outcome. And the answer can't
be that long term is more than a lifetime because that's hogwash too. It's a
long time but please, there should be some sort of swings in that direction
at least... otherwise the hole you're buried in is too deep to ever get out
!!! If you keep losing $500 per trip, that one royal on your 10th trip
doesn't really get back your $5,000 now does it. And then if you have
another 10 trips before seeing another royal , you're better thinking about
it from the ENJOYMENT side than from the positive vs negative expectation
side. IT could drive you nuts.

Thanks for your sharing what is true is many cases.
